Community Impact Mini-Grant 2026 | Norwalk, CT - Official Website Community Impact Mini-Grant 2026 Community Impact Mini-Grant 2026 The Community Services Department established by the City of Norwalk is providing direct assistance to support local nonprofit organizations with an operating budget under $1 million that are providing or will provide services to Norwalk residents.
Organizations must be a currently established 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(19) with the U.S. Department of Treasury and authorized to provide services in the State of Connecticut. Applications will be accepted during specified Submission of an incomplete or inaccurate application may result in ineligibility. One application per non-profit organization may be accepted.
Norwalk's Mini-Grant Program supports non-profit organizations within Norwalk. The purpose of the mini- grant program is to fund lower cost projects of value to non-profit organizations. Each application will be evaluated on its own merit.
Careful consideration is given to each request. Requests are reviewed in terms of general eligibility, conformity with grant guidelines, availability of funds, the amount requested to achieve the desired results, and program priorities. Mini-Grant awards are available from $5,000 up to $10,000 with a total distribution of $100,000.
• Individual grants range between $5,000 to $10,000. • An organization may only receive one mini-grant per 12-month period. • An organization Annual budget cannot exceed: $1,000,000.
• Grants are made only to nonprofit organizations that have federal tax-exempt status, or if they fall under the umbrella of a parent nonprofit with tax exempt status as a section 501(c)(3) public charity, public educational institutions or to government agencies.
• An organization not currently recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, not for profit institution, may identify a 501(c)(3) sponsor to act as their fiscal agent. • Religious organizations are eligible to apply for projects without a sectarian component. • The applicant must provide services within Norwalk and funding requested may only be used to benefit Norwalk residents.
• Organizations must comply with all state & federal regulations pertaining to proper licensing, health and safety requirements and operating within the State of Connecticut. • Organizations awarded in the last round are ineligible to apply again. Organizations that applied but did not receive funding can continue to apply.
• Organizations must be in compliance with reporting, requests, or other requirements associated with past funding from the City of Norwalk. • Health- Medical or Mental Health services or education that address active gaps in the Norwalk continuum of care. • Education- Academic support to students (all ages) and/or parents that provide enrichment or direct tutoring.
• Safety Net- Prevention or diversion services addressing a documented community need. Permitted activities for funding: Direct service-related costs. Cost(s) of materials needed/associated with a project, current projects, or expansion of projects or programming.
Costs associated with professional development, certification, and/or training programs that further the development of staff delivering direct services. This funding cannot be used for a nonprofit’s own granting program or to cover fringe benefits.
City of Norwalk reserves the right to reject applications, deny awards, or defer applications for future consideration based on insufficient information in the application, lack of accompanying documentation, the inappropriateness of the project proposed, an organizational history of unsuccessful projects of a similar nature, or a history of contract non-compliance.
