Our Community Impact – UniSource Energy Services UniSource Energy Services’ commitment to the community goes beyond providing safe, reliable and affordable energy. Through volunteerism, in-kind donations and financial contributions, we strive to make real, meaningful improvements to the quality of life in communities across Arizona. We do this because volunteerism is at the heart of our corporate culture.
UES employees are actively engaged in the communities where they live, work and play. Investing in the Communities We Serve UES focuses our philanthropic investments on three areas: education, the environment and community assistance to our most vulnerable residents. We also lend our support to many other community events and causes.
Our efforts provide hot meals to limited-income families, teach children about energy and how to use it safety and wisely, and support victims of domestic violence, child abuse and other crimes. These are just a few examples of the nonprofit programs we’ve sponsored. UES contributes more than $340,000 annually to local charities from our corporate resources, not customers’ rates.
We support nonprofits whose programs and services demonstrate measurable results in helping our most vulnerable neighbors. Our employee-led Community Action Teams (CAT) help decide how funding is allocated to ensure that the local communities’ greatest needs are met. In addition to these financial contributions, UES donates used computers and equipment, supplies and surplus items to help support local nonprofit groups.
UES employees play a direct role in strengthening their communities. About one-fourth of our employees actively volunteer through CAT or on their own for dozens of charitable agencies. Each year, UES employees and their families and friends volunteer nearly 5,000 hours to support almost 100 events, drives or causes.
UES also offers grants to the youth organizations our employees volunteer to support. These include 4H, sports teams, music and special interest clubs or camps. Many local nonprofit agencies benefit from our financial, in-kind and volunteer support.
Below are just a few: American Red Cross’ Home Fire Campaign Association for Victims of Domestic Violence Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona Feeding Our Homeless and Hungry Veterans Financial Literacy and Empowerment Program Housing Solutions of Northern Arizona Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council Lake Havasu City Local First Arizona Foundation’s Science Happens Here Nogales First Steps Program Northland Family Help Center Prescott Regional SciTech Fest Santa Cruz Transition to Employment Program United Way Kids Bright and Healthy Verde Watershed Environmental Education Program Donated Equipment Supports Fire and Youth Training Local fire departments and training programs will soon use donated equipment from UniSource to stay safe on the job.
