Community Initiatives Funding | Louisville, Ky. | Norton Healthcare Community Initiatives Funding Community Initiatives Funding Norton Healthcare is a not-for-profit, charitable, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) private corporation. Our mission is to provide quality health care services based on community need and consistent with our faith-based heritage.
To further our mission and maintain our not-for-profit status, we invest resources in other not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations in our community through the Norton Healthcare Community Initiatives budget. These organizations must meet one or more specific criteria relative to community benefit and outreach.
The following individuals, organizations and events are not eligible for funding through Norton Healthcare Community Initiatives: Organizations that discriminate against race, gender or creed Religious organizations or activities that are denominational or sectarian in purpose and do not have broad community benefit “Brick-and-mortar” capital projects or initiatives Support that requires ongoing or long-term funding (such as establishing personnel positions) when such sustained funding sources are not identified Fundraising activities such as galas, golf tournaments, arts-related events, team sponsorships, walks, runs, bike-a-thons and similar events You may submit one comprehensive proposal per calendar year.
All requests must be submitted electronically to Norton Healthcare Community Initiatives. Send any supporting documentation to the following address with a copy of the application form as a cover sheet: Norton Healthcare Community Initiatives 4965 U.S. Highway 42, Suite 1000 The applicant must clearly identify a sponsoring Norton Healthcare executive to champion the request.
If the application does not include a sponsoring Norton Healthcare executive, the chief development officer (or designee) determines which Norton Healthcare officer would be most appropriate/applicable to review the application and make a recommendation. The chief development officer (or designee) does an initial review to ensure the application is complete. The application is processed for review by the community initiatives committee.
The Norton Healthcare Community Initiatives committee meets monthly, and current applications are reviewed at that time. Any requests for sponsorships of special events must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the event. Upon executive approval, applicants will receive written notification of whether the application is approved or denied.
An invoice and Form W-9 must be produced within 60 days of receiving the approval notification. Our two philanthropic foundations, the Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation and Norton Healthcare Foundation, support initiatives within our organization.
The Norton Healthcare Foundation raises funds and awareness for Norton Healthcare’s adult-service facilities and service lines, including Norton Cancer Institute, Norton Heart & Vascular Institute, Norton Neuroscience Institute, Norton Women’s Care and others.
The Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm for Norton Children’s, supports and raises awareness for pediatric programs and services as well as workforce, research and facility enhancements at Norton Children’s Hospital and its sister facilities.
