Community Investment Grants - United Way For Greater Austin We Invest in The Organizations Powering Central Texas United Way for Greater Austin invests in nonprofit partners working every day to strengthen families, expand opportunity, and connect people to the support they need. Through Community Investment Grants and strategic partnerships, we support organizations advancing our 2030 North Star Goals.

These goals include helping more children enter Kindergarten ready to learn, ensuring more families achieve economic stability with a family-sustaining income, and aiding neighbors in accessing critical resources across Central Texas. Together, we’re building a stronger future for everyone. Our North Star Goals are the measurable outcomes guiding United Way for Greater Austin’s work through 2030.

These goals help ensure every investment, partnership, and initiative is moving Central Texas toward greater opportunity, stability, and well-being. Community Investment Grants are one of the ways we help power this work by supporting nonprofits whose programs directly contribute to these long-term outcomes. More Kids Kindergarten Ready 70% (over 15,000) students who enter Kindergarten will be ready to learn.

More Economically Stable Families 70% of families (420,000) families will earn a family-sustaining income. Enhanced Resource Navigation 60% of community members (4,100 people) who engage with United Way will improve stability or self-sufficiency within six months. Meet Our Community Investment Grant Partners Through Community Feedback, we’ve outlined two main strategy areas that are aligned to United Way’s North Star Goals.

We will invest millions of dollars in these strategic areas every year. Healthy Beginnings & Supported Families Education & Early Childhood Every child deserves the opportunity to start life with a strong foundation for success. United Way for Greater Austin invests in nonprofit partners working to expand access to quality early learning, support healthy child development, and strengthen families during the critical early years.

Together, these organizations help children enter Kindergarten ready to learn and equip families with the resources and support they need to thrive. Community Investment Grant Partners Community Voices Shaped Our Next Chapter Over an 18-month community engagement and redevelopment process, United Way for Greater Austin gathered feedback from families, nonprofit partners, volunteers, and community leaders to better understand where investments could have the greatest impact. That work resulted in a redesigned Community Investment strategy aligned with our 2030 North Star Goals.

In July 2026, we awarded 43 nonprofit partners whose work is strengthening children, families, and communities across Central Texas. Our next Community Investment Grant cycle is anticipated to open in 2029.
