Community Investment Program (Rolling RFPs) is sponsored by United Way of South Hampton Roads. United Way of South Hampton Roads offers grant opportunities primarily through Requests for Proposals (RFPs) released throughout the year.

Community Investments | United Way of South Hampton Roads Leveraging our resources to fund collaborative, proven solutions for the most urgent challenges We believe in local solutions for local problems. An essential part of our approach is our volunteer Community Investments Committee. These volunteers ask the questions our supporters want answered.

By using a thorough vetting process to select nonprofit partners, they ensure donations are used to solve our most urgent and challenging problems. In addition to pouring over 990s, audits, program details and results, volunteers hit the streets, visiting agencies to see the service for themselves before deciding where funding is invested.

United Way’s grant opportunities will be offered primarily through Requests for Proposals (RFPs) released throughout the year to enable flexibility and responsiveness while promoting greater structure and cohesiveness.

Across these opportunities, United Way volunteers aim to invest in direct services (including both essential services and program investments) and systems change because this two-pronged approach is crucial to tackling our community’s most complex challenges. This year, we are introducing a new online application portal called e-CImpact, in hopes of creating a more user-friendly experience for our agency partners.

EMERGENCY FOOD & SHELTER PROGRAM The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) is a federal grant created to supplement and expand the work of local social service agencies to help people with economic emergencies. EFSP funds are Federal funds awarded through the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

EFSP funding is available to nonprofit and governmental organizations, who are currently helping hungry and homeless people with food, shelter, rent, mortgage, and/or utility assistance. To apply for EFSP funding, please complete an EFSP application in e-CImpact once EFSP phase 42 has been announced (TBD). RESERVE UNITED WAY'S BOARD ROOM In need of a meeting space?
