Putting sustainability in action means supporting the communities where Republic Services customers and employees live and work.
Our Community Investment platform revolves around sustainable neighborhood revitalization, and we give back in numerous ways, including through charitable grants, in-kind donations, employee donations and volunteering. The goal of sustainable neighborhood revitalization is to improve communities in a way that makes a lasting impact on the quality of life of its residents.
We aim to do just that through the work of our charitable foundation and local community grants. OUR IMPACT: MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN LIVES AND COMMUNITIES COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS IN 2024 COMMUNITIES BENEFITED IN 2024 Republic Services Charitable Foundation Our Foundation is a private corporate foundation funded solely by Republic Services, and its signature program is National Neighborhood Promise (NNP).
This program provides funding for neighborhood revitalization and sustainability projects in communities where Republic Services customers and employees live and work. Our goal is to partner with exceptional local nonprofits to create sustainable neighborhoods through grants, in-kind donations and employee volunteerism.
NNP grants support high-impact projects including critical infrastructure, repairs and renovations, and public space improvements. Since 2018, we've positively impacted nearly 20 million people through our community investments. We support communities nationwide, revitalizing neighborhoods and creating lasting impact.
Here are a few of our projects in action. Supported extensive trail restoration, waste removal and sustainability education at Otay Valley Regional Park aimed at restoring the site’s natural beauty and safeguarding its biodiversity.
Improved the Habilitative Services, Inc. headquarters through additional office space, a community room, training and work areas for adults with developmental disabilities, and a transitional housing shelter. Created the Republic Services Collaboration Lab, which serves as an area for youth development, including programming on conflict resolution, social-emotional learning, career development and life skills.
Funded improvements and repairs to the Minnesota Indian Women's Resource Center, which provides social and mental health services to help empower Native women and their families. REBUILDING TOGETHER ST. LOUIS Funded improvements at the Wesley House, which serves as a community safe haven and provides social services to youth, adults and seniors in the Penrose neighborhood.
Supported implementation of the Mobile Market Program, which distributes food to community members who can't travel to the Food Bank, through the purchase of a food distribution vehicle. We support communities nationwide, revitalizing neighborhoods and creating lasting impact. Here are a few of our projects in action.

Community Grant Application Project Spotlight: Mimi’s Mission Hero Walk Republic Services’ Detroit-area teams support this annual autism awareness event in Woodhaven, Michigan, through financial contributions, volunteerism and donations of superhero capes.
Hosted by Mimi’s Mission, a local nonprofit dedicated to families with autistic children and adults, the Hero Walk brings the community together for a day of games, connection and support. Funded by employees for employees, the Republic Services Employee Relief Fund provides emergency relief to team members after a disaster, fire or severe weather.
Employees contribute through the company’s Employee Giving Program, which allows them to support the fund – and other charitable organizations – through payroll deduction.
