Through Project NORTH (Navigation, Outreach, Recovery, Treatment, and Hope), our Community Resource Navigators can help you understand your treatment options, clarify your goals, and access supportive resources.

Project NORTH is a community outreach and resource navigation program that helps Michiganders* find and access resources to succeed in recovery and beyond. By collaborating with with local agencies, providers, and community groups, we help people in recovery connect to critical resources and stabilize their lives.

Project NORTH does not replace clinical services but rather complements them — giving people in recovery a source of support, guidance, and accountability. *Project NORTH is currently open to residents of Gladwin and Mecosta Counties due to support from the local Opioid Settlement Funds.

Personalized support from people with lived experience Project NORTH connects people seeking support with a dedicated Community Resource Navigator (CRN). Our CRNs are certified peer recovery coaches and community health workers in active long-term recovery. They use their personal recovery journey to help others navigate the recovery experience.

CRNs focus on the needs identified by their clients, offering one-to-one support with: Identifying the client’s strengths and challenges Clarifying recovery goals and strategies Providing education and resources Accessing treatment and community support Building a healthier and more fulfilling life Referrals for Project NORTH can be made by residents interested in services for themselves, friends, family members, community partners, and other agencies within the community.

Quick facts about Project NORTH People referred to Project NORTH have the right to decline participation without any penalties or denial of future service. Project NORTH accepts ALL Gladwin and Mecosta County residents regardless of insurance or income. Active involvement in Project NORTH is expected to last 30-90 days, but there is no fixed time limit.

Participants are protected under HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. A release of information is not necessary to establish a relationship. CRNs have lived experience in active long-term recovery and are certified peer recovery coaches.

It is a program designed to support community residents navigate the recovery landscape so that they are connected to the resources needed to stabilize their lives. Who is eligible for support through Project NORTH? Project NORTH accepts ALL residents of Mecosta and Gladwin Counties regardless of insurance or income.

To begin the program, residents may complete a referral for themselves or for someone they know. What kind of help can I expect? Project NORTH is designed to offer personal, one-to-one help with a wide variety of needs.

Our CRNs will prioritize the needs identified by you (the client), working together with you to identify strategies and access services based on your specific needs and goals. We can assist with navigating substance misuse, mental health, medical, or human service needs, among others. What experience does the CRN have?

Our CRN has lived experience in active long-term recovery who is in the position to use their personal recovery journey to help others. In terms of qualifications, the CRN is a certified peer recovery coach and community health worker. They take an empathetic, non-judgmental approach to understanding an individual’s unique needs — with the goal of empowering them to take charge of their recovery process.

Is Project NORTH confidential? Participants are protected under HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. During initial outreach, a release of information is not necessary to establish a relationship with Project NORTH.

Once there is an agreement to participate in services, a consent to participate form and a release of information will be utilized to coordinate services/care between Project North and other agencies providing client-requested services. If a client refuses to sign a consent and ROI, they will not be turned down for services. How do I get started with Project NORTH?
