Community Partner Funding is sponsored by United Way of Northwest Vermont. Supports community-based work throughout Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle counties focusing on key strategies including supporting families, promoting mental health, and meeting basic human needs.

Community Funding - United Way of Northwest Vermont United Way’s Community Partner Funding provides flexible, multi-year funding to trusted nonprofits serving Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle Counties. This funding allows organizations to respond to emerging needs, sustain critical services, and create lasting change. Community giving makes these investments possible.

Your donation strengthens an entire network of local organizations working together to help our community thrive. In 2026, United Way of Northwest Vermont is distributing $715,500 in 2026 to 28 local organizations. The partners below are addressing community priorities including housing and food security, transportation, supporting families, mental health, substance misuse prevention and recovery, and financial security.

We also sub-grant funds to local organizations working in substance misuse prevention (see below) and distribute funds to additional local nonprofits via facilitated philanthropy. Substance Misuse Prevention In July 2023, United Way of Northwest Vermont (UWNWVT) was selected by the State of Vermont Department of Health, Division of Substance Use (DSU) as one of four Lead Prevention Organizations across the state.

In this role, UWNWVT is leading substance misuse prevention activities and sub-granting funds to community prevention partners located in Northwest and Central Vermont. Learn more here. We support Vermont 2-1-1, a 24/7 statewide referral help line, annually.

Vermont 2-1-1 connects callers to a wide range of available human services like food, shelter, healthcare and much more. A NOTE TO THE COMMUNITY ON OUR COMMUNITY PARTNER FUNDING PROCESS: United Way’s work, including the partner funding process, is 100 percent community driven.

Our Partner Funding Team – a group of citizen volunteers who live, work and play in Chittenden, Grand Isle and Franklin counties – reviews funding applications and monitors program performance.
