Community Power Program

Community Power Program is a grant from the Appalachian Community Fund (ACF) that funds grassroots organizations working for social, economic, racial, and environmental justice in Central Appalachia. The program provides technical assistance grants and other resources to community-based organizations building power from the ground up to address underlying causes of poverty and injustice in the region.

Supported organizations include youth leadership development initiatives, trans empowerment projects, and other groups addressing systemic inequities. Trans Empowerment Project The objective of the Trans Empowerment Project's Knoxville chapter is to help build power for trans and gender non-conforming individuals across Appalachia. They do this by addressing important short- and long-term needs of members of the trans community—offering services ranging from employment assistance to inmate advocacy to emergency aid.
