Community Preservation Act (CPA) Grants is sponsored by Town of Provincetown, MA. The Community Preservation Act (CPA) is intended to help fund projects that serve public open space and recreation, community housing, and historic preservation uses. The Town of Provincetown adopted CPA in 2004.

Community Preservation Act (CPA) Grants Economic Development (EDC) Grants Community Preservation Act (CPA) Grants The Community Preservation Act (the "CPA" MGL C. 44B) is intended to help fund projects that serve public open space and recreation, community housing, and historic preservation uses .

The Town of Provincetown adopted CPA in 2004, and further has adopted a bylaw designating 60% of CPA revenues specifically to community housing. Funded through property tax surcharge of up to 3%, coupled with State matching funds, CPA is currently distributed as 10% revenue to historic preservation, 10% open space/recreation, 60% community housing, and 20% remaining undesignated and available for any category.

Applications for Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds are reviewed by the Community Preservation Committee. This 9-person Committee is made up of a representative each from Town Boards including Recreation Commission, Open Space Committee, Conservation Commission, Historical Commission, Community Housing Council, Housing Authority, Planning Board, and two at-large members.

Applications are typically accepted during a fall funding cycle in advance of the April Annual Town Meeting. All applications that are recommended for funding by the CPC will be voted on for final funding approval at April Town Meeting. Funds are available the following Fiscal Year.

gov APPLICATIONS FOR FY2027 CPA GRANTS ARE NOW OPEN. Applications are due by 5:00 p. m.

on Monday, December 29, 2025. The purpose of the Tourism Fund Grant Program is to support marketing efforts that result in attracting new visitors and repeat visits to Provincetown and encourage overnight stays. Funding must be used for marketing and public relations efforts only.

Event Marketing Grants - Funding is to be used to market events that bring new visitors to Town, and to promote repeat visitation. The VSB has created four priority areas: Events during the shoulder season To increase visitation and encourage businesses to open earlier in the season and/or stay open in the fall and winter months (Excludes July and August.) New Events (Events produced for up to 5 years are considered new) .

Funding is seed money to help establish your marketing strategies for a successful event. Established Events (more than 5 years) With a demonstrated marketing plan to improve Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) attendance at the event. A demonstrated effort to partner and collaborate with local businesses to increase the economic impact of the Town.

MATCHING Marketing Grants: Funds are to be used to provide marketing through advertising and/or the creation and production of other forms of marketing to enhance year-round tourism. The VSB has created four priority areas: Programs during the shoulder season – (Excludes July and August.)

New Programs (programs up to 5 years are considered new). Funding is seed money to help establish and support your marketing strategies.

Preference will be given to proposals that prioritize new growth in the off-season, either as an existing year-round business, a seasonal business transitioning to year-round operations or a new start-up business. Eligible applicants include any Provincetown business or entrepreneur with a proposal that supports economic development and is based within the Town of Provincetown. "Off-season" is considered to be October-May.

Proposals for events and projects that occur exclusively within the months of June-September will not be considered. The maximum allowable grant is $10,000 / business. Grant funding can be used towards business expenses that support the proposal goals, including the purchase of equipment or supplies, staff wages, product or business development, or other approved uses by the EDC.

Grants may not be used for improvements to real property, rent/utilities, or for the purchase/upkeep of vehicles. The Town of Provincetown reviews funding requests from Human Services agencies serving Town residents. Human Services grant funds will be allocated to support the overall operations of 501(c)(3) agencies providing services to residents, particularly those of low-moderate income and those who are uninsured or underinsured.
