Community Services Block Grant Community Services Block Grant The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) supports and funds various programs and services available in your community. The Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) is the designated Community Action Agency in Los Angeles County and administers the CSBG program.
The CSBG program was founded in 1964, to serve our local community needs; and for decades, we have helped hard-working Angelenos improve their own lives. Today, DPSS continues to serve its original purpose, helping aspirational working families and individuals become self-sufficient.
The CSBG program has a federally mandated advisory board called the Community Action Board (CAB) that oversees the general implementation of the various social service poverty programs funded with the County’s CSBG allocation. Community Action Board (CAB) During the year 2025, the State of California provided Los Angeles County with $6. 3 million in CSBG funds, which were utilized to provide services to over 4,100 low-income individuals with over 3,250 families through over 38 Community-Based Organizations. The easiest and quickest way is to apply online at BenefitsCal.
