This funding opportunity provides direct support to Tribal communities in Arizona and New Mexico to address pesticide management, an emerging and under-resourced climate and health challenge.
Through this opportunity, communities can strengthen their capacity to make informed, climate-responsive decisions and develop strategies that enhance resilience to increasing aridity and extreme heat, particularly in agricultural and structural pest management contexts.
All Federally Recognized Tribes and Pueblos located within the region covered by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Southwest Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) team (Arizona and New Mexico) are eligible to apply. Up to four Tribal sub-awardees will be selected through this competitive process. Funding for all sub-award projects is contingent upon the continued availability of NOAA support.
Please see the attached application materials to view additional program information. Four (4) grants of $37,500 each will be awarded to support projects. Federally Recognized Tribes and Pueblos located in Arizona and New Mexico are eligible to apply.

Environmental Quality Programs Summer 2026 Internship The ITCA’s Environmental Quality Programs (ITCA EQP) Internship aims to develop a cadre of student leaders to pursue environmental quality and climate change-related professions upon completing their undergraduate/graduate training program.
Intern activities may include, but are not limited to: Participation in workshops and research focused on Federal Indian Policy and Environmental Policy. The Frank Harrison and Harry Austin Voting Rights Scholarship Essay Contest – 2026 On July 15, 1948, the Arizona Supreme Court recognized the American Indian right to vote, thanks to the unwavering commitment of Frank Harrison and Harry Austin of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.
This pivotal ruling overturned a previous decision that denied Native Americans the right to vote for two decades, when Gila River Indian Community members Peter Porter and Rudolph Johnson attempted to register. Today, we honor their achievements by actively participating in local, state, and federal elections.
