Community Targeted Transitional Support Program

Community Targeted Transitional Support Program is sponsored by Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS). This program provides specific, temporary financial assistance to allow consumers to live independently in the community. It covers rental deposits, rental assistance, utility deposits, utility payments, eye care, and dental care.

The Community Targeted Transitional Support program provides specific, temporary financial assistance that allows consumers to live independently in the community. This is achieved by providing funding for rental deposits, rental assistance, utility deposits, utility payments, eye care, and dental care.

Eligible individuals are those receiving treatment for a mental illness or co-occurring substance abuse disorder whose household income is below the Federal Poverty Level and can show this is a temporary or one-time need. Payments are not made to service recipients, but instead directly to the vendor, such as the landlord or utility company.

These are people who otherwise would need to stay in the Regional Mental Health Institutes because they do not have the resources necessary to begin their life outside the institute. Payments are not made to the individuals, but instead directly to the vendors, such as the landlord or utility company.
