This program provides grants to HUD-approved housing counseling agencies that offer counseling and advice to tenants and homeowners, both current and prospective, on property maintenance, financial management/literacy, and other matters to help them improve their housing conditions, meet financial needs, and fulfill tenancy or homeownership responsibilities.
Funds also support safeguarding against scams and discrimination, and acting as a gateway to housing assistance. HUD recently announced $56. 1 million in funding for FY2025, with a focus on rental counseling for HUD-assisted households, Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) counseling, disaster preparedness and recovery, and homeless prevention services.
