Lamont and the State Bond Commission have approved an additional $5 million for the state’s nonprofit security grants program administered through DESPP.
The additional resources will allow nonprofit organizations, including religious groups, to apply for grants to improve security. Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) organizations that are at heightened risk of being the target of a terrorist attack, hate crime, or violent act. Applications will be ranked and awarded based on the demonstrated need for security improvements.
Annual ‘Crime in Connecticut’ Report Released A comprehensive annual report on the number of crimes reported by all law enforcement agencies in the state in 2025 reveals across the board declines in crime over 2024. Dr. Jessica Gleba Named Director of Division of Scientific Services Dr. Jessica L.
Gleba, an accomplished forensic toxicologist and laboratory leader who has helped advance emerging-drug detection, impaired-driving analysis and forensic laboratory modernization, has been named Director of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s Division of Scientific Services.
Dr. Gleba has worked closely with her predecessor, Dr. Guy Vallaro, to strengthen the Connecticut Forensic Science Laboratory and prepare it for the challenges of the future. The lab is considered one of the top forensic laboratories in the country.
