JULY 3 AND 4 HOLIDAY NOTICE: The Thomas Jefferson Building will be open to visitors with timed-entry tickets on Friday July 3rd, and Saturday July 4, from 10:00am – 5:00pm. The Main Reading Room and The Source will be open to the public from 10:00am – 5:00pm. All other reading rooms are closed in observance of the federal holiday, and there will be no research availability or reader registration on both days.
Connecting Communities Digital Initiative (CCDI) The Connecting Communities Digital Initiative (CCDI) is part of the Library’s Of the People: Widening the Path program with support from the Mellon Foundation.
This four-year program provides financial and technical support to individuals, institutions and organizations to create imaginative projects using the Library’s digital collections and centering one or more of the following groups: Black, Indigenous, Hispanic or Latino, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and other communities of color from any of the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and its territories and commonwealths (Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands).
Grant for Artist/Scholar in Residence The Artist/Scholar in Residence program supports artists or scholars in the creation of new scholarly and/or artistic works that imaginatively study, experiment with, and/or critique the Library’s digital collections, materials, and/or services.
Proposed projects should center one or more of the following groups: Black, Indigenous, Hispanic or Latino, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and/or other communities of color in the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, territories and commonwealths (Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands).
The program is open to a broad array of artists and scholars, including (but not limited to): visual artists, conceptual artists, dancers, journalists, cultural critics, independent scholars, academic scholars, and cultural heritage practitioners, including librarians. For 2023, the Library intends to award two 12-month grants of up to $90,000 each. Applications are open May 17, 2023 through 2:00 PM Eastern Time on August 7, 2023.
