m. MT on July 20, 2026: DEQ issued an Air Quality Advisory for 5 Idaho counties: Ada, Canyon, Gem, Payette, and Washington Counties, where all burning is prohibited. Take steps to protect your health and check DEQ’s air quality advisories map for future burn decisions.
We administer federal and state funds for grants and low-interest loans to improve the quality of Idaho’s water resources. Our drinking water grants and loans assist eligible public drinking water systems with facility planning projects to ensure safe and adequate drinking water supplies.
Our wastewater grants and loans help entities build or repair existing wastewater treatment facilities to achieve and maintain compliance with state and federal standards or to provide direct water quality benefits. The Fiscal Year 2027 Letters of Interest (LOIs) are available and must be submitted by January 9, 2026 . A virtual training about LOI updates will be held on November 4, 2025, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.

On June 11, 2026, U.S. District Judge Richard Gergel ruled that the EPA's February 2025 termination of the $2.8 billion Environmental and Climate Justice Block Grant Program — created by Section 60201 of the Inflation Reduction Act — was arbitrary, capricious, and unlawful. The ruling voids the termination but does not order the EPA to resume the program, leaving the September 30, 2026 statutory deadline as the binding constraint. For the 116 grantees and the coalition of nonprofits, cities, and tribal partners that were already in award negotiations, the next 105 days will determine whether the program survives in any operational form or migrates entirely to the Court of Federal Claims as a damages action.
