Continuum of Care Program The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awards Homeless Assistance Program funding through what is known as the Continuum of Care (CoC) for a community. A Continuum of Care is a regional or local planning body that coordinates housing and services funding for homeless families and individuals.
Services include outreach, intake and assessment, emergency shelter, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing. The Boston Continuum of Care is coordinated by the Mayor's Office of Housing Supportive Housing Division.
Direction comes from the Continuum of Care Board, known as the Boston Continuum of Care Housing and Stabilization Committee, and consumer groups, including the Boston Advisory Council on Ending Homelessness (BACHome) and the Boston CoC Youth Council (BCYC). Request for Grant Applications The City of Boston is accepting applications for new and renewal Continuum of Care projects that will provide permanent and transitional housing and supportive services to households experiencing homelessness. Selected applications will be included in a single citywide application to the US Office of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on behalf of the Boston CoC.
New and existing non-profit providers, including faith-based organizations, are invited to submit project applications. The application form can be accessed online along with Addendum 1 (posted 4/24/26) and Addendum 2 (posted 6/10/26). Applications are due to the City of Boston Mayor's Office of Housing (MOH) by July 6, 2026, at 4 p.
m. MOH is hosting multiple information sessions by video. Attending at least one is required.

The NOFO is the process through which communities apply to renew existing CoC-funded programs and through which CoCs compete for new resources. Boston opened its local competition for new and renewal applications this spring, in advance of the NOFO, and that application process is currently available.
Providers seeking to renew existing CoC-funded programs and/or seeking to create new projects must submit an initial application through this process. For further information, please see the Request for Grant Applications section on this web page. MOH will continue to send out notifications to the Boston CoC mailing list and will post updates to this web page throughout the competition.
In May 2026, HUD announced awards for FY25 CoC grant projects that begin in Quarters 3 and 4 of 2025, which completes their award announcements for FY25. The full announcement from HUD is below, with links to the national award information. The Boston CoC received renewal funding for all existing programs for all 4 quarters.
