Grantmaking | Grant Opportunities from Iowa Women's Foundation Grantmaking is at the heart of IWF’s work. Since 1997, we have awarded over $2 million to more than 350 programs that expand opportunities for women and girls across Iowa. IWF provides two grant opportunities to organizations whose work aligns with our mission.
Applications are welcome from organizations with 501(c)(3) status, licensed child care centers, and other grassroots organizations serving Iowa’s women and girls. With a focus on economic self-sufficiency for Iowa’s women and girls, Core Grants center on initiatives that address at least one of six barriers to financial independence: Core Grants are announced at the IWF Annual Luncheon each fall.
Emergency Grants are small, one-time-only awards given to nonprofits, child care centers, and grassroots organizations in Iowa that address one of the six barriers to women’s economic self-sufficiency. These awards are to be used for immediate emergency needs of the organization to keep them serving their clients. Grants are awarded throughout the calendar year as needed.
Once emergency funds have been expended for the year, applications will close and re-open in January of the next year. Don’t hesitate to contact grants@iawf. org with any questions!
