Funders | Generation United Kingdom Talent is equally distributed. Opportunity is not. There are over 1 million unemployed people in the UK.

But this challenge is not spread equally – unemployment is disproportionately experienced by certain groups with huge variances; young people, ethnic minorities, those with disabilities or without degrees are twice or more as likely to be and remain unemployed.

At the same time, there are more than 1 million vacancies in the UK, with many new, exciting, well-paid jobs being created in growth sectors; enough to support everyone into work. Despite this, many employers of all sizes struggle to hire motivated and diverse talent. Generation is a charity committed to bridging this gap.

With our unique bootcamp training model with extensive wrap-around support, we support people facing significant and multiple barriers to employment into life-changing careers. We can only scale our work and impact with the support of partners and funders. Carry on reading to find out more.

We work with different types of partners: corporations, trusts and foundations, governments, and philanthropists and provide detailed reporting on impact created with each individual partners support. Our collaboration depends on the partners’ needs and objectives and can include funding, in-kind support, and ecosystem engagement. At Generation, we believe in the power of employment to transform lives, and we know that you do too.

Millions of people around the world struggle to make ends meet, many struggle to save money in order to transform their lives and those of their families. And too often, well-paying jobs – the foundation for income stability and long-term well-being lies out of reach for people who face one or more systemic barriers due to their gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, education, and income.

In-kind support in any form, including but not limited to access to learning assets such as content, tools, and certifications; subject matter expertise to identify high-demand job roles or create role-specific curricula; pro bono teams or volunteers support us with strategic projects and activities. Ecosystem engagement to secure job vacancies for our graduates with your customer, partner and supply chain networks.

Types of partners At Generation, we work with several different types of partners tailoring support to be mutually beneficial and to maximize impact. Generation typically partners with corporates that are looking to address skills gaps within their industry or region. We achieve that by designing and implementing programmes that equip individuals with the skills they need to succeed in the workforce.

Our corporate partners provide funding, expertise, and access to their networks to support the development and delivery of profession-specific bootcamps. Trusts and foundations typically provide valuable match funding for Generation to support people of all ages in developing the skills and knowledge they need to gain life-changing employment.

By supporting Generation, we can scale our work in specific regions and sectors, and innovate with initiatives that have a significant impact on the lives of people from underserved communities. We partner with philanthropists to help fund, raise awareness for and implement our programmes.

The partnership between philanthropists and Generation aims to create sustainable solutions for people facing significant and multiple barriers to employment. By working together, we can leverage their resources and expertise to make a greater impact in the communities we serve.

We are excited to be building a network of Patrons with varied and diverse expertise, backgrounds, connections, and interests to support the growth of our impactful work. Patrons support strategic projects, operations, and profile raising, along with making vital introductions to philanthropists, funders, and employer partners.

Generation for the Public Sector We partner with central government departments, local governments and combined authorities to accelerate employment and social mobility. We help people learn new skills and access meaningful careers by deploying government funding to deliver our skills bootcamps. We train and place learners in sectors with high employment potential, focusing on the skills and qualities employers require.

Javeriyah is one of the graduates of our AWS re/Start programme. Learn about her experiences and how the programme enabled her to become a Systems Engineer for Direct Line Group. Byron took part in the first ever Generation UK bootcamp in 2019 in London where he trained as an AWS Cloud Practitioner.
