Eligibility & Requirements The selected therapist must be licensed.

You must be currently seeing the therapist or have an appointment prior to applying. The applicant must be able to pay for the sessions upfront and be reimbursed on a monthly basis. ⚠️ What you Need to Begin Your counselor’s name and the counseling center You must have a counselor identified in order to apply.

If you haven’t found one yet, we’d be happy to recommend a trusted provider from our vetted network. A letter from your counselor This letter should confirm your engagement in therapy and briefly describe the therapeutic goals or areas of focus. Please indicate whether you are using insurance, private pay, or a combination.

Your family's story and need This includes a brief summary of your adoption or foster care journey and an explanation of your current financial need and how this grant would help support your family's well-being How to Apply in 5 Minutes Frequently Asked Questions If I didn't apply for an adoption loan through Pathways for Little Feet, can I still apply for a grant? Of course!

We never want finances to stand in the way of an adoptive or foster family getting the help they need to thrive. Do I need to apply separately for grants for each member of the family or do you award one grant per family? We ask that you complete one application per family, but include details for each person requesting financial support.

How quickly do you approve grants? We review and award grants on a monthly basis. Do you pay my therapist directly or reimburse me?

We provide reimbursement for up to 80% of the session cost, with a maximum of $125 per session. Please collect your receipts from each month’s sessions and submit them by the 5th of the following month for reimbursement. If I’ve never worked with a therapist, can I still apply?

You are still welcome to apply, but we have found that the most successful families have already established a relationship with an adoption-competent, trauma-informed therapist. It can take several sessions to find the right therapist and build rapport for them, so you’ll get more out of your grant if you can use it toward ongoing therapy. Do you recommend therapists?
