Eligible larges businesses with costs related to the pandemic after March 15, 2020, can apply for up to $50,000 in grant assistance. Small businesses are eligible for up to $15,000 in assistance. The utility companies say the assistance is designed to aid in recovery for businesses impacted by the pandemic.
“Private sector businesses are the backbone to creating strong and sustainable communities, and this effort by NYSEG and RG&E will help support job creation and retention,” Joe Rizzo, manager of economic development for NYSEG and RG&E, said in a news release. NYSEG and RGE websites provide information for businesses to determine if they meeting billing criteria to be eligible for funding.
Examples of eligible costs include workforce training and development, retention and recruitment costs, electric and/or heating inspections by contractors, enhanced energy efficiency assistance or additional electric infrastructure projects. Applicants must be RG&E or NYSEG electric service customers, or leaseholders of a landlord that is a customer. Funding is first-come, first-served.
