Department of Public Safety | Crime Victims' Compensation Program Department of Public Safety Crime Victims' Compensation Crime Victims’ Compensation (CVC) online application process that includes documentation necessary to determine eligibility. Please know that eligibility for this program is not guaranteed.
The program is a “payor of last resort” and only considers crime related expenses not covered by other “collateral” sources that include, but are not limited to, insurance, restitution, civil lawsuits, or crowdsource fundraising platforms. --> The Crime Victims' Compensation Program provides financial assistance to people who sustained traumatic injuries resulting from certain violent crimes.
We know that injuries can be more than just physical. The CVC Program can cover trauma that leads to emotional and mental health issues. Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Program (SAFE) The Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Program covers the cost of gathering, collecting and preserving evidence during the forensic examination for victims of sexual crimes that occurred in Missouri.
While SAFE is the “payor of first resort” for these fees, health insurance carriers may be billed secondary. NO forensic fees may be billed to the patient. However, the SAFE program does not cover any medical treatment that may be required due to the sexual assault.
Child Physical Abuse Forensic Examination Program (CPAFE) The Child Physical Abuse Forensic Examination (CPAFE) Program was established to cover the cost of the professional fee for SAFE-CARE providers who: perform a forensic examination to collect and preserve evidence on children under 18 years of age who have been a victim of physical abuse in Missouri; or provide a case review of previously gathered photographs, medical records, or investigative information provided by a multi-disciplinary team on children under 18 years of age who have been a victim of physical abuse in Missouri.
Medical professionals are required to bill the Child Physical Abuse Program as a “payor of first resort” for reasonable charges incurred during the forensic examination. Professional fee charges shall not be billed to other payment resources, such as the patient’s parent or guardian, health insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare.
Charges for medical procedures, facility fees, supplies, laboratory/radiology tests, court preparation or court testimony are not eligible for reimbursement. California State Nonprofit Security Grant Program (CSNSGP) is a grant from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services that funds target hardening and security enhancements for nonprofit organizations at high risk for violent attacks and hate crimes due to their ideology, beliefs, or mission. Awards of up to $200,000 per organization are available, with $76 million allocated in the latest funding round. Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations operating in California. Funded activities include physical security improvements and vulnerability assessments to protect against threats. The program requires applicants to complete a Vulnerability Assessment Worksheet as part of the application process. Support services applicants had an extended deadline of January 12, 2026. FY 2026 Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) – Mississippi is a grant from the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security (MOHS) that funds local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency operations agencies for homeland security preparedness. FEMA-provided funds can be used for equipment, training, exercises, and supplies to protect against terrorism and other threats. The FY26 application deadline is Friday, April 3, 2026, and applications are submitted via the MOHS JotForm portal. National priorities require allocating at least 10% toward border crisis response and 3% toward election security.
