Want to join the CSP community? Each year, the Comprehensive Studies Program sets aside funds to support campus programming and opportunities that enhance the undergraduate student experience.

### CSP Opportunity Grant CSP invites grant applications to support activities that will enhance student development and engagement through the following areas: * **Off-campus Study**-Educational opportunities that will advance academic studies (Note: Only travel expenses are supported; this grant will not support tuition.)

* **Conferences**-Participation at a national or regional conference that promotes professional development and/or academic growth * **Other Educational Projects**- Support for course-related projects Undergraduate students who meet the following criteria are eligible for consideration for a grant of up to **$500**: * Must be a student in the Comprehensive Studies Program * Must be have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.

0 * Must have completed at least one term at U-M * Must have completed CSP 100, CSP 101, or required MLC course Beginning in the 2025 fall term, prior Opportunity Grant recipients are not eligible for additional funding. Additionally, grants will not be awarded for post-graduation activities. ### Application Deadlines The application must be received at least 4 weeks prior to the program or activity start date.

We aim to share award decisions within 15 business days of receiving the application. If awarded a grant, you must agree to participate in the activity outlined in your application. Failure to do so will result in revocation of the awarded grant.

Within 30 days following the conclusion of the funded activity, awarded students must submit: * A (minimum) 1-page reflection on their experience. * Copies of receipts/invoices totaling the grant amount to substantiate the use of the grant funds. Failure to submit these documents may result in revocation of the grant.

### Financial Aid and Award Disbursement The CSP Opportunity Grant award will be credited directly to your student account via Wolverine Access. The award will be applied against any outstanding balances first, before the remaining amount (if applicable) is refunded to you. #### Important Financial Aid Guidance * **Fully Funded Aid Packages**: We are unable to award grants to students who have fully funded financial aid packages.

Awarding the grant to fully funded students will only reduce existing aid. * **Consulting OFA**: We strongly encourage you to consult with the Office of Financial Aid (OFA) to see if any adjustments to your Cost of Attendance (COA) budget can be made based on your specific circumstances and intended activity.

Please consult with a financial aid advisor to determine if a COA budget increase is possible for your intended activity and to determine if receiving this award might affect any other aid in your package. * **Improper Disbursement**: Occasionally, awards are credited without the proper adjustments, which can result in an improper check or deposit to the student.

If this happens, Student Financial Services may ask you to return the full amount. Funding will not be provided for: parties, fundraising activities, profit-making events, University transportation, personal finance use (books, tuition, etc), graduate students, dissertation research, Alternative Spring Break, test prep, or paid internships.

CSP Opportunity Grant Application ### Co-Sponsorships for Student Organizations CSP invites applications for co-sponsorships to support events and activities that will enhance the experience of our community through the following types of programming: * **Educational** (up to $500 maximum) - Programming that will educate campus community on a specific topic (e.g. financial literacy and study skills workshops, forums, and guest lectures) * **Social** (up to $250 maximum) - Programming that will build campus community (e.g. welcome week events, mix and mingles, and scholarship/award banquets) * **Outreach** (up to $350 maximum) - This includes philanthropic activities such as pre-college events and local community engagement efforts.

The committee does not fund Alternative Spring Break. Undergraduate student organizations are eligible to request funds (up to a maximum of $500) and must be affiliated with the University of Michigan (i.e. a registered student organization). Groups are limited to one co-sponsorship per academic year (September - April).

#### Application Deadlines Funding requests must be submitted at least three weeks prior to the scheduled event date but no later than the application deadline for the term. The deadline for requesting funding for fall term activities is October 31. The deadline for winter term activities is February 28.

CSP will not consider applications for spring/summer term activities. Funding decisions will be made within 10 business days of submission of the co-sponsorship application. #### Publicity and Reporting Requirements If funded, the Comprehensive Studies Program should be acknowledged in all promotional materials.

The student organization is also required to submit a report within 30 days following the conclusion of the program/event in order to be considered for future funding through CSP. The report should summarize the event outcomes e.g. attendance data, event surveys or other data that demonstrates whether or not your program met its established objective(s).
