This initiative aims to strengthen trust between our institution and the local community by equipping applicants with essential tools and resources. These resources will enable a deeper understanding of how to engage with the community in a trustworthy and effective manner. Applicants must utilize the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Center for Health Justice trustworthiness toolkit in their proposals.
The AAMC Center for Health Justice supports organizations in partnering with communities and various sectors to develop strategies that promote engagement and collaboration. By leveraging a structured partnership framework, this award aims to build strong, meaningful relationships between University of Miami researchers and community members.
Maximum Grant Request: $5,000 Applications must plan for the implementation of the AAMC Trustworthiness Toolkit, and budgets should facilitate the use of the Toolkit. Applications must be submitted jointly with one community partner (no more than two community partners are allowed), defined as a community organization or public agency.
Prior to submission, the applicant partnership (UM faculty and community partner) must reach out to CASE Director, Dr. Denise Vidot, by email for a mandatory discussion regarding the suitability and feasibility of their proposal ideas. This conversation must take place no later than Monday, April 17, 2026.
The application is open to all faculty at the University of Miami possessing the necessary skills and experience to carry out the project. The application is submitted online and consists of 10 project-specific questions with approximately 200-500 words expected in response to each question.
