CUNY Tech Futures

CUNY Tech Futures is a career development initiative from the City University of New York (CUNY) and the NYC Office of Talent and Workforce Development that connects students to paid internships, apprenticeships, and tech career pathways.

Administered through CUNY's Office of Careers and Industry Partnerships, the program includes upskilling trainings, industry professionals in the classroom, and employer engagement across NYC's high-growth sectors including technology, finance, and public health. The CUNY Workforce Development Initiative (WDI) invests $5. 44 million annually in innovative, customized workforce programs.

Eligible participants are current CUNY students and recent graduates seeking careers in tech and business.

C. Provides students with paid work experience in arts and cultural institutions, creating a pipeline for students, while diversifying NYC’s cultural institutions. Works to propel women (trans and cis) and nonbinary students into computing degrees and tech careers.

Industry Specific Career Connections Connects students to paid professional internships that are relevant to their career aspirations Industry Specific Career Connections Partners with NYC agencies, boards, and commissions to provide students with internships in tech, engineering, public health, finance, business and other burgeoning sectors.

CUNY Inclusive Economy Initiative Industry Specific Career Connections Catalyzing student career success by building industry-college connections and helping students identify and pursue their career aspirations.

CUNY Upskilling Initiative Industry Specific Career Connections Students get the in-demand skills and knowledge that NYC’s employers and high growth industries need through virtual trainings which are accessible on any device and completed at one’s own pace.

Industry Professionals in the Classroom Brings industry professionals from the NYC tech ecosystem into CUNY classrooms to transfer their skillsets and applied knowledge directly to students and to collaborate with computer science faculty. Industry Specific Career Connections Comprehensive plan that turbocharges tech students’ career readiness and industry connection from their first day of classes through graduation.

Industry Specific Career Connections Provides opportunities for recent CUNY graduates to intern for eight weeks with NYC small businesses, with the aim of converting the internships into employment. Resources for On-Campus Support Campus-specific offices provide resources and supports to students and employers looking to connect with specific colleges.

Industry Specific Career Connections Get hired in tech or business through a CUNY apprenticeship program. CUNY Workforce Development Initiative (WDI) funding programs aim to invest $5. 44 million annually in innovative, creative, and locally customized workforce development projects.

Awards under the CUNY WDI funding programs support strategic efforts to meet businesses’ short-term workforce needs, address long-term industry needs, improve talent pipelines, enhance flexibility and adaptability of CUNY workforce programming, and expand work-based learning opportunities.
