Memphis Light, Gas and Water - Utility Assistance Report a Barricade or Cone Restoring Services After a Fire Surplus Equipment Auction Report a Barricade or Cone Restoring Services After a Fire Report a Barricade or Cone Surplus Equipment Auction Senior Leadership Council Monthly Financial Reports Surplus Equipment Auction Surplus Equipment Auction City of Memphis $1 million Utility Assistance Program gives aid to MLGW customers facing cutoff notices Memphians who are facing utility cutoff notices may qualify for up to a $500 credit on their MLGW utility bills thanks to the Memphis Mayor and the Memphis City Council.
One of two ways to qualify: · A Tennessee Department of Human Services client or · A financial, health or military deployment-related hardship · Have utilities in your name or your spouse’s name · Have a current MLGW cut-off notice · 100% medically disabled · Hospitalized for a half year · Spouse on active military deployment DHS clients must show proof of disconnect notice via: · DHS’ office drop box, by mail or online · No additional application needed · Apply online at ncclife.
org · Pick up a paper copy at the Neighborhood Christian Center, 223 Scott St. from 8:30 a. m.
– 4:30 p. m. · Call NCC at 901-881-6013 and be switched to a pre-recorded message · Drop off completed copies of the application, qualifying documents and cut-off notice in a sealed envelope with MLGW customer’s name on the outside at the NCC’s 223 Scott St.
drop box. A NCC staffer will contact you within 3-5 business days. ATTENTION: If you’ve received help through DHS, you’re ineligible to apply as a hardship case.
MLGW Utility Assistance Programs Special Assistance Programs brochure In certain instances, MLGW may establish a repayment plan of a past due balance in addition to the regular utility bill. PowerPay is a program that does not require a deposit, reconnection fees, or late fees. Rather than receiving a monthly bill, customers maintain their account balances by making smaller payments as needed.
PowerPay also lets you pay off an existing past-due balance over time. New and existing customers are welcome to apply (must have a smart meter). For more information, go to mlgw.
com/powerpay . If you are retired or on a fixed income and receive only one check at the beginning of each month, you may qualify for this plan. You may request that the net due date on your bill be delayed until after you have received your check.
MLGW will defer cutoffs for nonpayment for all residential customers between December 15th and January 14th annually. Customers must have an unpaid balance of $399 or less. This new program will allow customers to have extra cash during the holidays while protecting them from getting into serious debt.
Third Party Notification : You may designate a third party for us to notify in the event of a pending service cutoff due to non-payment or insufficient payments. The third party will not be responsible for paying your bill, but will act as an additional communication link. Call (901) 544-6549 for more information.

The Downtown Community Office, 245 S. Main Street, will temporarily process federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) applications only.
In partnership with the Shelby County Community Services Agency, this move increases the resources available to help more than 18,000 eligible residents navigate the increasingly difficult application process to receive LIHEAP assistance. The county has been granted $9. 4 million in utility assistance this program year; the Downtown Community Office is expected to process applications at least until August.
