Funding Areas - Daniels Fund Aging Amateur Sports Disabilities Addiction Early Childhood Education Homelessness & Disadvantaged K-12 Education Reform Youth Development Bill’s commitment to supporting older adults began with a promise to his mother: to help her remain in her home and live independently as she aged. He witnessed firsthand the importance of maintaining dignity, autonomy, and connection in later life.

These personal experiences shaped his belief that aging should be met with respect, support, and compassion. Older adults are empowered to age with dignity, purpose, and comfort. Through accessible in-home care, vibrant community engagement, and thoughtful end-of-life support, seniors can enjoy independence and a meaningful quality of life.

Help seniors remain in their homes by providing access to services that support daily living. This includes respite care for family caregivers and navigation support to coordinate care. Encourage seniors to stay active, connected, and purposeful through opportunities for social interaction, volunteering, lifelong learning, and recreational activities.

End-of-Life/Palliative Care Ensure older adults have access to compassionate hospice and palliative care that addresses their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in their final stages of life. My greatest hero was my mother. She was the loveliest person I ever knew.

I absolutely adored her. Bill loved sports and knew from personal experience that participation in sports and the influence of quality coaches could change the direction of a young person’s life for the better. Youth experience the benefits of participating in sports programs.

Elite amateur athletes have the opportunity to participate in national and international competitions. Youth have access to affordable, community-based sports led by coaches trained to build a positive culture that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and confidence. National and international amateur sports competitions take place in the community.

The costs of participation in national or international competitions, such as training and travel expenses, are offset for elite amateur athletes. We’re adding 1 million youth to the field by 2030 . One of Bill’s sisters was born with developmental disabilities. Bill observed how his parents’ choice to provide compassionate care at home enhanced his sister’s health and happiness. Later in life, he suffered from his own disability with severe hearing loss.

People with disabilities achieve dignity through maximum independence and quality of life. Those with developmental disabilities receive high-quality supportive services; those with physical disabilities gain access to life-altering, durable equipment. Respite care is readily available to support family members caring for loved ones. Bill suffered from alcoholism and embraced sobriety after seeking treatment. He talked openly about his ongoing recovery as a way to educate and provide hope to others. Bill personally helped countless friends and business associates seek treatment and regain control of their lives.

Adults and youth with drug and alcohol addiction challenges achieve and maintain stability through prevention, treatment, and recovery programs. Prevention (Emphasis on Youth) Young people demonstrate positive behavioral changes through an understanding of the risks and repercussions associated with drug and alcohol use.

Individuals begin demonstrated sobriety via participation in a supportive treatment program with demonstrated success. Individuals maintain long-term sobriety through engagement in recovery programs with demonstrated success. We’re adding 1 million youth to the field by 2030 .

Early Childhood Education Bill saw the need for healthy, safe, and nurturing early childhood experiences in the home and beyond. He wanted to ensure early childhood education started children on a path to success. Kindergarten readiness is ensured through an improved early childhood system with programs that support teacher/leadership quality, program quality, and parental engagement.

Teacher/Leadership Quality Teachers, leaders, and caregivers receive the essential training and support that ensures children in their care are well-prepared for kindergarten. Program Quality System Level Investments improve curriculum, materials, and resources across multiple learning sites.

Parents and other caregivers are empowered to become "first teachers" by gaining awareness of important developmental milestones and knowledge of effective strategies to ensure children reach them. Quality education for all should be our goal. Bill’s great compassion for people struggling to meet basic human needs fueled his desire to help them get back on their feet.

He wanted to offer disadvantaged individuals and families a hand-up and spark their motivation to reenter the workforce. Homeless individuals and families achieve and maintain self-sufficiency without the need for public assistance through transitional housing, supportive services (with a focus on work programs), and emergency services.

Shelter & Supportive Services Individuals and families who are homeless, or are in danger of becoming homeless, break the cycle of poverty and attain economic self-sufficiency by receiving access to shelter combined with comprehensive supportive services.

Individuals and families who are homeless, or are in danger of becoming homeless, attain economic self-sufficiency through the dignity and power of employment opportunities that drive upward mobility.

Individuals and families experiencing the initial stages of homelessness move from crisis toward economic self-sufficiency by receiving overnight shelter and food assistance in a structured manner that encourages both accountability and participation in case management. We’re committed to reducing homelessness in Aurora, Colorado by 50% by 2030 .

Through strategic partnerships and proven models that emphasize housing, workforce support, and accountability, we're expanding solutions that work—and scaling what’s possible. I am for the underdog, the homeless, the hungry… for those that need a second chance. Bill felt strongly that every student deserves a quality education that provides relevant real-world experiences.

He believed free enterprise principles – like competition and choice – have the power to achieve systemic reform and foster excellent schools. Every family has access to high-quality education options that give their children an opportunity to succeed through increased education choice, high-quality teachers and leadership, and informed/engaged parents.

Expanded competition and school choice are realized through high-performing charter schools and private schools, tuition assistance/portable voucher programs, and other innovative market-driven education initiatives. Parents become better educated in the areas of school quality and choice, and understand how to be effective advocates for their children.

Teacher/Leadership Quality Teachers and school leaders receive effective training and support to maximize student achievement. We’re creating 100,000 new school choice seats by 2030 across Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. By supporting high-quality charter and private school options, we're ensuring families have access to the education that best fits each student’s unique needs.

Education needs to be relevant. Schools must provide knowledge and expertise that will help prepare young people to be successful in life. Bill supported character-building programs that help youth become confident, patriotic, and independent.

He wanted kids to develop personal accountability and responsibility. He also wanted them to understand the value of money, the free enterprise system, and that success is earned through hard work. Youth develop character and gain the necessary life skills to become confident, patriotic, independent, personally accountable, and responsible.

Career & Technical Education Whether planning to earn a college degree or not, youth develop pathways to meaningful employment through career exploration, job shadowing, internships, and apprenticeships. Youth actively contribute to their communities as engaged, informed citizens with strong American values.

Programmatic grants support organizations that help young people understand the purpose, history, and founding principles of our democratic republic form of government and free enterprise system. Financial Literacy & Free Enterprise Youth become active participants in the free enterprise system by developing a strong understanding of economics, business, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.

We’re equipping 1 million students with essential civics knowledge by 2030 . Through the National Civics Bee, we’re expanding access to high-quality civic education and inspiring the next generation of informed, engaged citizens throughout the country. Education needs to be relevant.
