DeHaan Artist of Distinction Award - Indy Arts Council Grants : DeHaan Artist of Distinction Award DeHaan Artist of Distinction Award The DeHaan Artist of Distinction Award provides contemporary visual artists with grants of $10,000 to pursue aspirational projects. Their final projects are shown during a special exhibit at Gallery 924.
The Indy Arts Council, with generous support from Christel DeHaan, launched the award program in 2017 and opened it to artists statewide in 2021. Review the 2026 applications guidelines and apply starting January 6, 2026. Applications will be reviewed in two rounds.
Applicants may submit an application in either or both rounds. Round 1 application deadline: May 3, 2026 Round 2 application deadline: October 18, 2026 The DeHaan Artist of Distinction Award provides contemporary visual artists with grants of up to $10,000 to pursue aspirational projects. Their final projects are shown during a special group exhibition at Gallery 924.
The Indy Arts Council, with generous support from Christel DeHaan, launched the program in 2017 to allow artists to explore, take risks and push their creative practice in dynamic new ways. The program is open to Indiana-based artists.
Work in the visual arts (drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, textiles, digital media, etc.) Have lived and/or worked in Indiana for at least three consecutive years at the date of the application. Have five years of documented experience creating contemporary art. Have generated consistent income over the past five years through work in visual art.
