Deihl Arts Grants - 3rd Quarter Grants from the Lincoln & Dorothy Deihl Arts and Humanities fund are intended to support projects that fit into the category of community and public arts or humanities programs intended to cultivate a thriving community. Generally, grants are awarded to proposals for projects located in Manhattan and Riley County, Kansas. This application is for Community Arts Grants.

Proposals should require awards exceeding $10,000. A detailed budget is required to calculate all anticipated project/program expenses. Proposals generally should NOT be made for projects requiring ongoing support from GMCF.

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) to apply or apply in partnership with a 501(c)(3) organization. The funding focus at this time includes support for long-term displays and projects that are free and easily accessible to the public. All art forms are welcome as part of this grant program.

Click here to apply online Deihl Community Grants - 3rd Quarter Grants are intended to support projects likely to have a major impact on community efforts in basic human needs and youth, located in or impacting a large segment of the population.

Generally grants are awarded to proposals clearly focused on the support of the constituents of Manhattan and Riley County, Kansas. Please see the Community Arts Grants application for arts related proposals. Non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations with a potential project should complete the online application that includes a letter of intent/interest to the GMCF for initial screening by the Deihl grants committee.

The committee prefers that personnel costs to be covered by the non-profit. A subsequent interview of proposers may be requested. Schools and government agencies will not be considered.

Organizations may apply in multiple quarters but will only be awarded one Deihl grant per calendar year. Typically, proposals should require awards exceeding $10,000 . Proposals generally should NOT be made for projects requiring ongoing support from GMCF , although multi-year funding to reach an approved project total will be considered.

Humanities is a broad subject that includes learning about, thinking about, describing, and discussing what it means to be human, connecting humans as well as generating insights that cultivate a thriving community. Typically, proposals should request no more than $10,000. Grants may be considered both for one-time, discrete activities or for activities likely to require on-going funding (sustainability grants). The 2026 Howe Family Foundation Grant application period is now closed. Ward & Brenda Morgan Community Grant - Fall Grants from the Ward & Brenda Morgan Community Fund are intended to support projects that focus on: (1) Affordable, Amazing Experiences to Make Memories and Bring Community Together or (2) Support for Vulnerable/Disadvantaged Elderly & Youth. Proposals should require awards between $5,000 and $20,000 .

A detailed budget is required to calculate all anticipated project/program expenses Generally, grants are awarded to proposals for projects located in Manhattan and Riley County, Kansas. The Fall 2026 application period opens on 10/01/2026. Grants are intended to support activity-based, before and after school programs.

Plans should include an outline of how the program will be offered and carried out in a safe manner. Please include information about how the program will be different from previous years and the plans in place to make sure the program will be effective while ensuring that youth, staff, and volunteers are in a safe environment.

Awards are not typically made to primarily support summer activities (especially summer-only proposals) – some overlap of the school year and subsequent summer activities may be supported. Proposals should not focus on extending the curricular/teaching day for students (tutoring programs are not typically funded, although some elements of tutoring might be embedded in activity-based programs).

Proposals are accepted for activities likely to require ongoing support. Proposers are encouraged to emphasize the use of volunteers and, where appropriate, the involvement of the schools. The 2026 YES!
