Delaplaine Foundation Mental Health Grants in Maryland is sponsored by Delaplaine Foundation. This grant program is focused on mental and behavioral health, inviting 501(c)(3) nonprofits and 509(a) public institutions in Maryland to seek funding for programs that improve mental health.

What We Support – Delaplaine Foundation The arts enrich the quality of life for everyone and elevate the quality of life in the communities where they exist. Delaplaine Foundation supports cultural organizations that bring performances and exhibits to the public, and provide arts education experiences to those who may not otherwise have such access.

Delaplaine Foundation is committed to the support of students, educators, academic programs, and institutions through the funding of educational initiatives, tuition assistance programs and operational support. Delaplaine Foundation is committed to helping meet the physical, mental and behavioral health needs of individuals, families and communities, ensuring that quality health care is accessible to all.

Delaplaine Foundation believes strongly in the importance of history and preservation for present and future generations. Learning from the past helps us to best respond to the present and prepare for the future. For this reason, we support historical programming, as well as archival and structural preservation.

Delaplaine Foundation supports nonprofit organizations whose programs and services provide critical support and enhance the quality of the life for children, youth and adults. Delaplaine Foundation values spiritual enlightenment, which we believe positively impacts and deeply enriches the quality of life for everyone and the community-at-large.

Delaplaine Foundation awards the majority of grant funding to specific programs and projects operated by our nonprofit partners. This is especially true for first-time grant applicants. By focusing on programmatic funding, Delaplaine Foundation is able to more quickly evaluate impact to the local community, while providing funding to a large, diverse pool of applicants.

In certain limited cases, Delaplaine Foundation will award general operating funds. This happens most often with long-term grantees who have a proven track record of stewardship with grant funds. If you have received funding for programs in the past and would like to receive a general operating grant, please contact Blair Wilson, Director of Grantmaking, prior to submitting a grant application.

Capacity Building/Installment Grants Our Board of Trustees may consider a limited number of capital requests annually. Most often this funding is provided in installments over a 2 or 3 year period. If your nonprofit is seeking capital funding, please contact Blair Wilson, Director of Grantmaking, during June or July of the grant funding cycle.

Our Board will solicit presentations from a limited number of nonprofits during the month of September. Based on those presentations and a submitted grant application, Board members may choose to award a larger, installment grant to a select number of capital requests. Prior to each grant cycle the Delaplaine Foundation Executive Committee determines how much grant funding is available to award.

Part of this amount can include a set amount of grant funds that Board members can award to the nonprofit of their choice. Board members can choose to award grant funding to nonprofits of their choosing, even if the nonprofit has not submitted a grant application. Grantees cannot apply for discretionary funding but may receive a discretionary grant award.

In order to be eligible for funding, applicants must be a nonprofit organization that is operated for charitable purposes and recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3)of the Internal Revenue Code. ​​ Additionally, 509(a) tax-exempt public institutions such as schools, churches, hospitals, etc. can be considered as well.

​ Organizations that do not have tax-exempt status can apply ONLY if they utilize a fiscal sponsor with tax-exempt status. ​ Delaplaine Foundation provides limited funding to school booster organizations and local fire departments, generally less than $2000.

​ Delaplaine Foundation does NOT fund the following:​ Individual Scholarships / Government Agencies / For-profit Businesses / Golf Tournaments Beginning with the 2024 grant cycle, per unanimous consent of its Board of Trustees, Delaplaine Foundation made the decision to narrow the geographical reach of four of the six funding sectors.

Specifically, grant funding for the following four sectors will be limited to programs or projects that directly impact Frederick County residents: Cultural Arts, Education, Health and Human Services. We’ve taken this action to increase local impact and to ensure sustainability. Direct impact is defined as program or project located in Frederick County, or specifically targeting Frederick County residents.

It does not include programs in adjacent counties that are open to Frederick County residents. Grant applications for Historical Preservation and Spiritual Enlightenment programs or projects in Frederick County AND surrounding regions will continue to be considered. Delaplaine Foundation receives a large volume of sponsorship requests throughout the year.

We purposely keep our annual sponsorship budget low in order to reserve our major resources for grant making to nonprofit organizations during our annual grant cycle. We are, however, pleased to support our nonprofit partners and will accept one request per nonprofit organization per calendar year for consideration. Please note that requests generally fall within a range of $250 - $3000.
