Design of Mixed Flexible-Fixed Public Transport Networks (FlexMobility) | NWO FlexMobility contributes towards sustainable cities with a novel view on public transport systems with on-demand services. Previously proposed on-demand systems substitute fix lines or operate as feeders towards mass transportation modes. However, higher efficiency could be achieved by a smart combination of both fixed and on-demand mobility.
We will design public transport networks that include traditional fixed-route bus lines and on-demand services in parallel and in a user-centric manner; and we will measure how the demand reacts to such a system and identify the crucial factors for this system to increase public transport ridership.
Open Technology Programme The Open Technology Programme provides funding for free and unrestricted applied and technical-scientific research without disciplinary boundaries. The programme offers companies and other organizations an accessible way to participate in scientific research that is intended to lead to societal and/or scientific impact.
