Development Grants (FAWCO Foundation) is sponsored by The FAWCO Foundation. These grants fund impactful projects that promote sustainability and immediate assistance to communities, primarily through grassroots organizations lacking sponsorship.

What Development Grants Do Development Grants provide funding for grassroots projects nominated by FAWCO Member Clubs and FAUSA.

These grants help local organizations meet immediate needs, strengthen communities and create lasting impact. Projects are nominated by FAWCO clubs and FAUSA, connecting local commitment with Foundation support. Grants support organizations that receive limited sponsorship or outside funding.

Development Grants support grassroots organizations nominated by FAWCO Member Clubs and FAUSA.

The following eligibility requirements apply to all Development Grants nominations. FAWCO Member Clubs and FAUSA may nominate up to two projects per Development Grants cycle. The nominating club must have been a FAWCO member for at least one full calendar year as of the application deadline.

The nominating club or FAUSA must be in good standing as specified by FAWCO. Project Support Requirements The nominating FAWCO Member Club or FAUSA must have supported the nominated project for at least six months prior to submitting the nomination. Support may include donations of goods, services or financial contributions made by three or more individuals within a FAWCO Member Club or FAUSA.

Additional Eligibility Guidelines Recipient projects may be nominated again three years after receiving a Development Grant. Different projects operated by the same charity may be nominated during that three-year period. A Target Project nomination may not be submitted simultaneously for a Development Grant, with the exception outlined below.

A FAWCO Member Club or FAUSA may nominate any non-shortlisted Target Project for a Development Grant within the same year, provided the organization meets all grant requirements. Review & Selection Process After the submission deadline, the Development Grants Committee reviews applications and prepares a ballot for FAWCO clubs and FAUSA. Each club may submit one ballot through either the FAWCO Representative or the club president.

Recipients are announced at the Annual FAWCO Conference or Interim Meeting. The Development Grants cycle progresses throughout the year from preparation and applications to review and recipient announcements. Review eligibility requirements and begin preparing projects for the upcoming cycle.

The new grant slate is announced in October and applications open for submission. Applications close January 27th . Nominations are reviewed by the Development Grants Committee.

What kinds of projects qualify? Development Grants support grassroots organizations working in education, environment, health and human rights, as well as “Close to Home” projects within FAWCO member communities. Projects may be local or international in scope, but should demonstrate meaningful community impact, financial need and strong support from the nominating FAWCO club or FAUSA.

How many projects can a club nominate? Each FAWCO Member Club or FAUSA may nominate up to two projects during a Development Grants cycle. How does my club apply?

Applications are submitted through the official Development Grants application form during the active grant cycle. Application materials and instructions are published each autumn. When are applications due?

Development Grants applications are due each year on January 27th. Clubs and FAUSA are encouraged to begin preparing projects and application materials during the summer and autumn months prior to submission. Where can I view past recipients?
