Development of Official-Language Communities Program - Cooperation with the Community Sector is sponsored by Department of Canadian Heritage. This subcomponent supports the engagement of official-language community organizations and strengthens their ability to act to achieve measurable gains in long-term community development, while encouraging innovation and excellence.

Cooperation with the Community Sector — Community Life - Canada. ca Cooperation with the Community Sector — Community Life The Cooperation with the Community Sector subcomponent supports engagement by community organizations and strengthens their ability to act while encouraging innovation and excellence. Eligible organizations must represent the interests of official-language minority communities.

Their missions, mandates or the majority of their activities must support the development and enhancement of official-language minority communities nationally, provincially, regionally or locally.

These organizations include: Canadian non-profit organization, duly registered; associations, institutions or Canadian foundations; Canadian for-profit organizations (solely for non-profit activities); a government entity (only when it is the only organization able to manage a school community center).

Individuals, government organizations (with the exception of government organizations which are the only organizations able to manage a school community center), universities, school, school boards, foreign institutions and organizations are not eligible. Eligible projects and programming Project funding is available for one-time activities that do not require ongoing funding.

Priority is given to projects that address current issues, are innovative and help develop areas that are unique or unexplored. Programming funding is available to carry out ongoing activities supporting community development and can cover organizations' operating costs. Priority is given to programming activities that have a lasting effect and strengthen relations between community stakeholders.

Consideration will also be given to applications in line with the Official Languages mandate and to initiatives that contribute to reconciliation Footnote 1 with Indigenous Peoples. These initiatives should aim to support and meet the objectives of the Development of Official-Language Communities program.

This approach aligns with the Government of Canada's responsibility in delivering on Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action . When an application deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or statutory holiday, it is extended to the following working day.

To apply for funding at a regional level, please consult the list of regional offices to submit your complete funding application package by email. For a regional project funding application ( Atlantic, Ontario, Quebec and Western regions only ), the application process will take place in two steps. Applicants are required to: review the Application Guidelines .

Contact your respective regional office to request a Letter of Intent form. Complete and submit the Letter of Intent form by email.
