Research Grant Application - Bryon Riesch Foundation Research Grant Application Research Grant Application jloberger 2025-05-19T14:41:44+00:00 The goal of the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation is to provide grants to fund research in the hopes of finding a cure for paralysis.
Applications for research grants are accepted from American investigators located at institutions that have established lines of accountability and fiscal responsibility. The intent of these grants is to promote new and exciting research in the field of paralysis. The amount of grant money distributed is pre-determined by the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation (BRPF) Board of Directors.
The following areas of research are of primary interest to the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation: Factors relating to re-myelination, axonal preservation or growth, and cell differentiation that may lead to acute or chronic recovery in spinal cord injured individuals. Drug therapies or other interventions that will limit secondary damage after a spinal cord injury.
Activities that investigate underlying problems associated with neurological disorders such as spasticity, chronic pain, bladder/bowel function, or sexual function. Grant applications must follow the application format provided. Applicants receiving grants will be notified by March 27, 2026 . Written reviews will not be provided. Research Grantee Responsibilities/Limitations The grant provided is good for one year periods and may be renewed at the discretion of the BRPF.
The grant amount will be based upon availability of BRPF funds and will be determined by the Foundation. Grantees must provide BRPF with narrative and financial reports of progress six months into the projects and 30-60 days after the one year period has ended. The principal investigator is responsible for sharing all publications related to the project with BRPF during and after the one year period.
The Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation expects to be recognized as a financial contributor in publications and presentations regarding the project. Due to the size and 501(c)3 status of our organization, overhead costs will not be covered. Request to purchase major items of equipment are discouraged.
Funding for the principal investigator salary is discouraged unless the application is for a postdoctoral fellowship.
