Digital Preservation Outreach & Education Network Digital Preservation Outreach & Education Network We support digital preservation education and outreach in the nation’s libraries, archives and museums.
DPOE was created by the Library of Congress in 2010 to provide digital preservation training across the U.S. The program transitioned to Pratt Institute School of Information and New York University’s Moving Image Archiving and Preservation program in 2018 to further develop it and support it into the future.
In 2020, DPOE-N received a two-year grant from the Mellon Foundation to support its operations, and in 2022 a second two-year grant from Mellon. In 2025, DPOE-N was awarded a third $1. 28 million grant from Mellon , sustaining the program until December 2028.
We offer professional development support to cultural heritage professionals, such as librarians, archivists and museum professionals, in the area of digital preservation. Professional development funding can be used within a network of available professional development providers. We also offer free workshops for cultural heritage professionals addressing a variety of digital preservation topics.
Our workshops aim to help professionals develop both technical skills as well as skills that enhance our human resource and stewardship practices.
