Powered by a partnership with Google, the GDCA meets learners at every digital skill level, offering hands-on training and industry-recognized certificates. Expand to read the full transcript **0:00** It's so important for us to realize that digital skills have become the price of entry for many jobs in our country. **0:09** Digitization has so infused our workforce that the need for those skills is ubiquitous. The Goodwill Digital Career Accelerator is designed to meet people where they are.
**0:17** The beat is in the word "accelerator." It's being able to put your foot on the gas and take someone from just that basic keyboarding all the way up to advanced computer programming. **0:32** My dream was to complete my education.
I need a degree in a business field or an IT field. I heard about the Google certification offered by Goodwill, so I went to the Goodwill career center and asked them about the program. **0:41** She was applying to enter the Google IT Support Professional Certificate training program.
To get into that program, there are assessments you have to pass, just to make sure you have the foundational skills you need to be successful. **0:57** But part of the assessment is not just math, reading, and comprehension. The other assessment is when we sit down and talk with each individual interested in coming into this training program - because it's really important that you have the determination to complete it.
**1:23** What we often find is that when somebody reaches a particular level in the program, the world of possibilities opens up to them, and they understand that there's something much bigger that's possible. **1:31** It is completely transformational. We see people going from homeless to digital jobs within a series of months.
**1:39** So often we think about helping people change their lives, but they change our lives too. They change our understanding of what's possible. They change our faith in people, because we see what it's like to overcome.
**1:53** The Goodwill people are a miracle in my life and my kids' life. I will never forget the blessing they provided by offering this program for me.
