Applicants must demonstrate deep knowledge and connection to service population(s) and ongoing mechanisms to gather input and feedback to shape services.

9 Million in Grants to Nearly 100 Nonprofit Organizations Grantees are focused on advocacy, direct service, impact, leadership, and funds for children across Greater Philadelphia December 12, 202 4 -Philadelphia, PA – Philadelphia Foundation has announced a significant funding initiative, awarding $2. 9 million in grants for 97 nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable populations throughout Greater Philadelphia.

Nonprofits in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties, as well as Camden and Burlington counties, will greatly benefit from these new funds. “Philadelphia Foundation is proud to announce nearly $3 million in grants to support nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable residents across Greater Philadelphia,” said Leann Ayers, Director of Grants and Programs at the Philadelphia Foundation.

“These grants, focused on advocacy, direct service, impact, leadership, and the Fund for Children, will support our community partners to continue their vital work in breaking the cycle of poverty, strengthening community connections, and making a difference in partnership with marginalized individuals and groups.

” While the programming and services provided by grantees varies, recipients of Philadelphia Foundation competitive grants have demonstrated: Recipients of Philadelphia Foundation competitive grants demonstrate: Commitment to equity: Ongoing efforts to implement equity principles at organizational and programmatic levels. Deep community connection: Intimate knowledge of and strong ties to the target population(s).

Responsive service design: Continuous gathering of input and feedback to shape and refine services.

The following grants were awarded to nonprofits falling within the categories of advocacy, direct service, impact, leadership, and the Fund for Children across Greater Philadelphia: Advocacy Grants: 7 grants, totaling $210,000 These grantees tackle a diverse range of issues, from ensuring equitable voting access to implementing proven strategies for accelerating student learning in Philadelphia.

They also focus on creating post-secondary opportunities for youth, including those who are system-involved, and providing housing and economic opportunities in underserved areas. The scope of their work extends to various other critical concerns affecting these communities.

Lift Every Voice Philly (formerly “Philadelphia School Parent Organizing Project”) Movement of Immigrant Leaders in Pennsylvania Pennsylvania Immigration & Citizenship Coalition Direct Service Grants: 23 grants, totaling $690,000 Direct service grants are general operating funds awarded to organizations that demonstrate non-profit best practices and policies at all levels of the organization – Board, Operations, and Service Delivery.

Children’s Crisis Treatment Center HIAS and Council Migration Services, Inc. DBA HIAS Pennsylvania Homeless Advocacy Project Lutheran Settlement House Maternal and Child Health Consortium Philadelphia Children’s Alliance Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC) Rebuilding Together Philadelphia Therapy Center of Philadelphia Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians Impact Grants: 33 grants, totaling $904,000 Impact grants are awarded to nonprofits that have a proven track record of delivering direct services to vulnerable populations, with initial outcomes from at least one year of program implementation.

These grantees are making significant strides in improving community conditions through various initiatives.

ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester/Food and Housing Supports Camden Repertory Theater Community Development Group Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Atlantic, Cape May, and Camden Counties Episcopal Community Services of the Diocese of Pennsylvania Family Promise of Southern Chester County Intercultural Family Services, Inc. Legal Clinic for the Disabled Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance Neighbor to Neighbor Community Development Corp Nicetown Community Development Corporation Sustainable Business Education Initiative Inc Teach For America – Greater Philadelphia The Garces Family Foundation The Philadelphia Academies, Inc. Welcoming the Stranger, Inc Women’s Center of Montgomery County Leadership Grants: 10 grants, totaling $455,000 Leadership grants empower nonprofits during leadership transitions by providing funding to support strategic processes, develop measurable skills, and enhance diversity within leadership pipelines.

These grants also aim to strengthen capacities in governance, civic engagement, board and staff development, and initiatives focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Children First PA (formerly PCCY) Pennsylvania Health Access Network The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia The Main Line Chamber of Commerce Foundation Fund for Children: 24 grants, totaling $635,000 The Fund for Children was created as a result of the lease agreements between the City of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, respectively.

This fund allocates grants that offer program-specific and general operating support to organizations dedicated to serving youth in Philadelphia, specifically those aged 0 to 18. Grantees of the Fund for Children are engaged in providing a diverse range of services aimed at supporting Philadelphia’s children and youth.

Women’s Campaign International Youth Art & Self-Empowerment Project Philadelphia Foundation operates two competitive grant cycles each year; one in the spring and one in the fall.

Eligible nonprofit organizations apply for grants in one of the following competitive categories: advocacy, direct service, impact, leadership and fund for children. The foundation also operates additional grant cycles for special initiatives and partnerships and makes grants from the pool of donor-advised funds it manages.
