Donated Cars for Vermonters in Need | Pass Your Keys - Good News Garage Safe, reliable, donated cars for VT families in need The Donated Wheels program at Good News Garage helps lower-income families overcome transportation barriers and move forward in their lives. We do this by repairing donated cars, as necessary, and then awarding them to families in need.
Every donated car is inspected to ensure it is safe, reliable, and capable of helping its new owner achieve self-sufficiency. In this rural state, hundreds of Vermont families need reliable vehicles for everyday life. We partner with Vermont’s Economic Services Division to provide vehicles to participants in the Reach Up program of the Department of Children and Families .
To determine if you qualify, please contact your case manager at Reach Up. If you are eligible, you will be given an application to fill out and return to your Reach Up case manager. Reach Up determines who is eligible for a vehicle and then notifies Good News Garage.

Ready To Go covers the entire state of Vermont and provides rides to and from employment and to and from childcare so that you may continue to work. Moving Our Neighbors Forward, One Ride at a Time Ready To Go is a microtransit transportation program providing van rides to individuals and families in Vermont. This critical resource provides access to essential life activities, including jobs, school and childcare.
Ready To Go provides more than 30,000 rides annually across the state of Vermont. Our Ready To Go program primarily operates through a partnership with the state’s Department of Children and Families. You can find out more about the Vermont Department for Children and Families at https://dcf.
