Education Mini-Grants | UNCW Congratulations to the 2025-26 STEM SENC Education Mini-Grant recipients! Each project is eligible for up to $400 for the school to purchase supplies, equipment, and/or food, plus a $100 teacher stipend for personal use. Reusable items will become the property of the school.
Guidelines for Consideration Be a current K-12 teacher in a public, charter or private school within a STEM SENC supported NC county (i.e., Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Cumberland, Duplin, Harnett, Hoke, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland) Directly involve and provide ongoing benefits to students Include clearly defined goals and learning objectives Use innovative and creative teaching methods Feature measurable results that can be evaluated upon completion Priority will be given to projects that broaden access to STEM learning opportunities Applications Due: Nov.

'26) Project Completion & Final Submission Form Deadline: May 15, 2026 $100 Check Issued: After all requirements met Celebration at UNCW: June 11, 2026 Complete acceptance paperwork and provide a headshot to receive $400 in funding. Implement your lesson and complete the Final Submission Form to receive $100 in funding.
The form will ask you to: Upload a short video (no longer than 5 minutes) or photos to be publicly shared Answer brief questions about lesson implementation and student outcomes STEM SENC Lesson Plan Database Can a team apply for a grant? We encourage teams to work together; there is a place on the application to list other team members. The award is per project and the $100 stipend will be sent to the primary applicant.
Will I receive feedback and/or scoring? Given the large number of applications we expect, we will not be able to provide feedback or scoring to applicants. How can the funds be spent?
The $400 will be provided to the school for the purchase of equipment, supplies, materials, and/or food—items needed to support your lesson/students. Any reusable items will become the property of the school. The $100 stipend will be provided directly to the primary applicant to spend however they choose, personally or professionally.
Can I save my progress on the application and return later to complete it? Yes, you can save the changes you’ve made to your fillable PDF on your local device. We won’t see what you’ve completed until you’ve clicked submit.
I'm a community partner that does programming in K- 12 schools, can I apply? A current teacher needs to be the primary applicant, and the award will go to the teacher/school. If a teacher would like to partner with a community organization, that is fine.
The intent of the award is to recognize creative and innovative lessons. The teacher’s lesson plan will be made publicly available so that others can use them. Is there a maximum number of mini-grant applications a teacher can submit?
No, there is no limit to the number of applications a teacher may submit. However, each teacher is only eligible to receive one award.
