EIT Health Business Plan 2026-2028 EIT Health is one of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s (EIT) Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), dedicated to transforming healthcare for the benefit of citizens and patients across Europe.
Our mission is to improve health outcomes, strengthen healthcare systems, and contribute to Europe’s competitiveness and sustainability by bringing together key actors from business, research, education, and healthcare delivery. As Europe faces an ageing population, rising chronic disease, workforce shortages, and pressure on healthcare budgets, the need for innovation has never been greater.
With more than 100 members, EIT Health responds by accelerating solutions that deliver tangible impact: scaling breakthrough technologies, fostering entrepreneurial talent, and shaping health policy through evidence and collaboration.
This Business Plan builds on the transformation initiated in recent years, consolidating activities within our Flagships: mission-driven, multi-annual programmes focused on Europe’s most pressing health challenges.
Flagships provide coherence, predictability, and impact by aligning the three sides of the Knowledge Triangle around common priorities, co-created with our members and partners and aligned with EU health and innovation agendas, enabling us to respond directly to policy priorities while creating real value for patients, providers, and innovators.
Over the next three years, our ambition is to catalyse health innovation by supporting start-ups, SMEs, and researchers to bring their solutions closer to market. At the same time, we will play a central role in strengthening Europe’s health workforce, equipping professionals and learners with the skills needed to thrive in a digital and sustainable health future.
Transformation of health systems will be another core focus, as we work to accelerate the adoption of innovations that improve outcomes for patients and create efficiency for healthcare providers and payers. Fields of science (EuroSciVoc) CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques.
