Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grants is a program from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) that funds the installation of EV charging points for renters and flat owners in the United Kingdom. The grant provides up to 500 British pounds per charging socket to help eligible individuals install OZEV-approved chargepoints at their homes.
Applicants must own an approved electric vehicle, use an OZEV-authorised installer, and obtain permission from their landlord or property manager. The grant is paid directly to the installer upon approved installation. Businesses, charities, and public sector organisations may also be eligible under related schemes.
Applications are accepted through March 31, 2027.

Electric vehicle chargepoint grant for renters or flat owners: Apply for an EV chargepoint grant - GOV.UK Electric vehicle chargepoint grant for renters or flat owners Apply for an EV chargepoint grant Before you apply, check that: your vehicle is on the list of electric vehicles approved by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles ( OZEV ) the chargepoint is on the list of eligible chargepoint models Contact an OZEV -authorised installer to get a quote for the work.
Get all the relevant documents and permissions for the installation of your chargepoint. Complete the online application .
As part of your application you’ll need to submit: a dated quote from your installer written permission from your landlord, freeholder or property manager to install the chargepoint written permission from your local authority to install the chargepoint if you live in a listed building a utility bill showing your name and the address where your chargepoint will be installed a copy of your tenancy agreement if you’re renting Once OZEV has approved your application, they’ll let you and your installer know.
Your installer can then start the work. Your installer will claim the grant on your behalf when they finish the installation. OZEV will email you to confirm whether their claim is correct.
If OZEV approves the claim, the grant will be paid directly to your installer. OZEV may audit your application before it’s approved. They may also audit your installation to check that it meets the grant requirements.
They may arrange for a site visit. If you do not allow this or do not respond to their questions, they may cancel your application. If you have any questions about the scheme, you can speak to your installer or contact the Government Grant Managed Service.
