We are signing grant agreements with our chosen recipients from the Round 2 and Round 2b grant opportunities. We expect the grantee companies to begin work by the end of 2026. All Round 1 grantees have completed the environmental reviews for their projects.
We anticipate construction will begin in June 2026. The Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator program is a federal grant program that funds repairs and upgrades to public EV charging stations across the United States. Oregon was awarded $10 million from the program in 2024 .
The ODOT Climate Office oversees the funding as a competitive grant program for owners and operators of public EV charging stations. The owner/operators of the public EV charging stations must use their awarded funding to repair broken stations, upgrade existing ones with more charging ports, or a combination of both options.
They may use the grant for Level 2 or DC fast charging ports, and they are required to contribute at least 20% in match funding. As of April 2026, we’ve held three grant opportunities, called rounds. In Round 1, we awarded about $3.
2 million in funding. In Rounds 2 and 2b, we awarded about $5 million in funding. Details about funded projects In December 2025, we selected five finalists to receive grant funds.
Below is a breakdown of the proposed stations for each finalist. As of April 2026, we’ve signed contracts with one grantee. We expect them to start their repair and upgrade work by the end of 2026.

Space Age travel center in Hermiston - Four DC fast charging ports. Fred Meyer on NE Glisan in Portland - Four DC fast charging ports. T & T Country Store in Huntington - Four DC fast charging ports (Round 2b).

Requirements for repairing or upgrading charging stations Charging stations must meet all requirements outlined in Title 23 Federal Code of Regulations 680 . High-level requirements include: A t least 4 charging ports per station . Standardized payment methods.

These stations were selected by the federal government in 2023. The orange shapes represent areas that we think would benefit from repaired or upgraded EV charging stations. Other charging stations not represented on the map may also be eligible for this program.

$10 million grant to repair and upgrade public EV chargers coming to Oregon (Feb. 15, 2024) February 2026: Applications for Round 2b closed on February 20th, 2026. January 2026: We opened another round of funding (Round 2b), which is a slightly modified version of Round 2.
December 2025: We selected notice of intent to award recipients for EVC-RAA Round 2. November 2025: Applications for Round 2 funding closed on November 11th, 2025. September 2025: Notice to Proceed to Task 1 was issued for all Round 1 grantees.
ODOT opened applications for Round 2 of EVC-RAA. May 2025: We held an information webinar for potential applicants on May 22, 2025. December 2024: We selected the “intent to award" finalists for the Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator (EVC-RAA) program: EVCS, OpConnect, Inc., and Electrify America.
November 2024: We updated the EVC RAA Frequently Asked Questions on November 4, 2024. Applications for EVC RAA funding closed on November 22nd, 2024. October 2024: We released the Notice of Funding Opportunity for the EVC RAA program on October 8, 2024.
