The Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Rebate Program provides rebates for Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations purchased and installed after May 1, 2026. This program is part of Delaware’s commitment to innovation in the transportation sector, reducing greenhouse gases, and improving Delaware’s air quality. It supports the Delaware Clean Vehicle Rebate Program .

There is $2 million available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rebate recipients must provide their own funding to cover expenses as they are incurred. Four types of charging station uses are eligible: Multi-family: Apartments and condos with four or more residential units.

Public Access: Charging stations that are open to the public, such as retail centers, park and rides, hospitals, schools and universities, downtown areas, parking garages, hotels, parks and destinations and attractions. Fleet: Charging stations for fleet vehicles only and not available to the public. Workplace: Employers in a non-residential place of business.

Rebates for single-family home charging stations are not offered under DNREC’s Electric Vehicle Charging Station Rebate Program. Charging station rebates and installation reimbursement are available for multi-family dwelling projects.

Enhanced incentive levels of up to 90% of eligible purchase and installation costs are available for multi-family dwelling projects in areas identified as Priority Areas — disadvantaged and/or underserved areas where eliminating barriers to electric vehicle adoption is especially important.

To qualify, the address of the charging station location must be within a census tract identified by the Delaware Department of Transportation as an Equity Focus Area or by the Environmental Protection Agency as an Environmental Justice Area of Exceedance.

Charging Station Rebate (% of Cost) Installation Reimbursement (% of Eligible Costs) Installation Reimbursement with Future Proofing (% of Eligible Costs) Priority Area Multi-Family Dwellings The maximum rebate for multi-family projects is $5,000 for single-port chargers and $10,000 for dual-port chargers. The limit is $75,000 maximum per site, including charging station(s) and installation costs.

Public Access, Fleet and Workplace Charging station rebates and installation reimbursements are available, on a first-come, first-served basis, for public access, fleet and workplace charging projects. For commercial projects, rebates of up to 75% of the cost of the charging station and up to 75% of installation costs are available.

For government and nonprofit projects, rebates of up to 90% of the cost of the charging station and up to 85% of installation costs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The maximum rebate amount is $5,000 for single port chargers and $10,000 for dual port chargers. Rebates are limited to ten charging ports or five dual-port stations for each location.

Read the Rebate Program Description and Guidance document for the type of project you are applying for ( Multi-Family Dwellings or Public Access, Fleet and Workplace ) Register as a “supplier” with the state of Delaware using the Division of Accounting eSupplier Portal .

(Find more information in the New Supplier Registration Guide or view this instructional video ) If you have previously registered as a Supplier, you do not need to complete this step. Complete the pre-approval application . DNREC staff will respond within 10 business days with an approval letter with the approved rebate amount.

Complete the installation of the project within one year of the pre-approval letter. Submit final paid invoices and documentation and a copy of the approval letter to DNREC. Transportation@delaware.
