The Access & Opportunity Committee is charged with facilitating capacity to uplift the voices of minoritized members and to recommend actions that will better ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion across the Society by embedding its members in every other society working group.

Access & Opportunity Statement Diversity training for all of SIDP leadership Increasing diversity within SIDP by 10% Increasing diversity within SIDP leadership by 10% Serving as liaisons for all of SIDP committees Continuing ELEVATE-ID grant Establishing Mentorship programming directed towards diversifying SIDP membership and committees Expanding Leadership, Evidence, and Value Across Treatment Environments in Infectious Diseases (ELEVATE-ID) Grant SIDP is soliciting Expanding Leadership, Evidence, and Value Across Treatment Environments in Infectious Diseases (ELEVATE-ID) research proposals from SIDP members who qualify as investigators with a focus on projects that promote expanded leadership, evidence and value across training environments to practices involving infectious diseases.

The primary purpose of this research grant is to support and build careers of the under-represented researcher community (and/or) to improve care for underrepresented communities. Applications in clinical and bench research that impact underrepresented communities may be considered. Download Request for Proposal Financial support is limited to $20,000 for a one (1) year non-renewable grant.

At the time of application submission, the Principal Investigator (PI) must meet all eligibility requirements to be a Full or Associate Member of SIDP (https://sidp. org/Become-a-Member). If not a current SIDP member, membership will be awarded as part of receipt of this grant.

The PI or co-principal investigator (co-PI) must self-identify as being a member of an underrepresented community in infectious disease research. Applicants with a terminal degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, etc.) who are recognized as a PI at their institution are eligible to apply. Applicants who are enrolled in a PGY1/PGY2/fellowship during the grant period are ineligible.

Grant funds may not be used to fulfill any graduate degree requirements. Finally, applicants are ineligible to serve as PI for this grant if they have received an SIDP Research Grant as PI in the past two years or serve on the SIDP Board of Directors. Questions regarding applicant eligibility should be addressed in writing to the Chair of the Research Committee prior to submission.

If a Research Committee member chooses to apply (as PI, co-investigator, mentor, or consultant), the Committee member will be recused from participating in the review or handling of this grant. It is the responsibility of the Committee member to notify the Research Committee Chair of their intent to participate in an application.

Liaisons to the Research Committee will also ensure that all reviewed applications meet eligibility criteria.
