Ellsworth Hovey Getchell Foundation Scholarships is sponsored by Ellsworth Hovey Getchell Foundation. Provides scholarships for private pilot training through partnerships with organizations like the Aerospace Museum of California.

This site is focused toward celebrating some of what made Ellsworth such a force in life and to help carry his inspiration forward with young people through scholarship and grant programs.

The EHG Foundation works to identify and sponsor interested persons in their endeavors in historical Aviation, Mechanical, Engineering, STEM and related fields. The EHG Foundation fosters and supports historical aviation artifacts, including but not limited to the Hawker Sea Fury aircraft.

It was Ellsworth’s desire that his worldly resources be dedicated toward the continued maintenance and operation of his Hawker Sea Fury as well as the support of promising students in aviation and the sciences. The Ellsworth Hovey Getchell Foundation was created to ensure his legacy lives on. The Ellsworth Hovey Getchell Foundation is a recognized 501(c)3 entity.

Our mission is to: 1. To foster and support historical aviation artifacts, including but not limited to the Hawker Sea Fury aircraft. 2.

To enable interested persons and the general public to learn more about aviation history and heritage, including but not limited to direct exposure and/or experience to such history and heritage. 3. To support and meet the education and training of interested persons and worthy parties and related endeavors in historical Aviation, Mechanical, Engineering, STEM and related fields.

2026 AAA Scholarship Recipients “The Auburn Aviation Association has been involved in awarding scholarships for years. Our cooperative partnership with the Getchell Foundation has enabled us to significantly expand both the breadth and depth of aviation scholarship opportunities. Thanks to the Getchell Foundation, our outreach is able to help even more young people who are pursuing careers in aviation.

Recipients of the EHGF scholarships and grants exhibit the positive character traits of Ellsworth Hovey Getchell. Keeping with the spirit of Mr. Getchell, they will in turn pay it forward to their next generation. The members of Auburn Aviation Association are honored to be part of this process.

Upon graduation, some of our students are forced to postpone testing simply because of a lack of funds. This postponement then causes a delay in the student starting their career.
