m. For tips on how to stay safe: maricopa. gov/Heat Housing & Community Development The Emergency Home Repair Program is designed to help low- to moderate-income homeowners address urgent health and safety issues in their homes, primarily non-functioning air conditioning and heating systems.

Because funding is limited, the program is not able to assist with every home repair need. The Emergency Home Repair Program may assist with the following: Air conditioning and heating repairs and replacement Minor accessibility modifications Refrigerator or stove replacement To be considered for assistance, applicants must meet general eligibility requirements.

The following requirements are intended to provide a basic overview, and additional criteria may apply based on program guidelines and available funding: Own the property and occupy the home as their primary residence for 1 year prior to application Property must be located within the program service area Able to provide a crisis statement Household earns at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) Provide verification of lawful presence in the United States Current on property taxes, mortgage payments, and HOA dues (if applicable) Household liquid assets must not exceed $12,000 Home must have a qualifying repair need, such as a non-functioning air conditioner or heater, or another eligible health and safety issue Applicant must not have received program assistance within the past 12 months and must not have exceeded the lifetime assistance limit of $25,000 To help establish eligibility, the following documentation is required: Photo identification for all household members over 18 years old Social Security card for all household members Birth certificate for all household members Proof of income for the past 60 days: for all persons residing in the home who receive income: Pay stubs for the last 30 days Award letter (Social Security, disability, or retirement) Two most recent statement for all accounts for all persons residing in the home Property ownership verification: Copy of deed or mobile home title Most recent statement (must be current on payments) Current utility bill including electric and/or gas Provide income and assets certification Proof of school enrollment for household members under 18 years old Emergency Home Repair funds are limited and prioritized for the households most in need.

This is not a first-come, first-served program.

Applications are prioritized based on the following: Non-functioning air conditioning or heating during periods of extreme or seasonally critical temperatures At least one household member is age 62 or older At least one household member has a verifiable disability (documentation required) A child under the age of 6 lives in the home The applicant must provide proof of gross annual household income for all household members.

Total household income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Maricopa County, based on household size.
