Emergency Rental Assistance Program (SF ERAP)

Emergency Rental Assistance Program (SF ERAP) is sponsored by City & County of San Francisco. The SF ERAP provides assistance to eligible San Francisco residents who have past-due rent or cannot afford move-in costs for a new unit.

These documents are different than a 3-day notice for non-payment of rent and will have the words “Unlawful Detainer”, “Summons”, or “Complaint” on them.

SF ERAP is still open to receive applications for move-in assistance or for applicants with Unlawful Detainers (eviction lawsuit in court). The San Francisco Emergency Rental Assistance Program (SF ERAP) provides assistance once every 12 months to eligible San Francisco residents who: * Cannot afford move-in costs for a new unit they have identified and plan to lease * Current resident of San Francisco or meet residency exception for the program (see Program Rules) * If applying for back rent: Experienced a recent financial hardship within the past 12 months.

* Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), RAD, and HOPE SF tenants only: Please work with your property management and onsite services before applying to confirm your eligibility. Special processes apply for tenants in these programs.

* Selection Criteria: Due to limited program funding, SF ERAP can only provide financial assistance to eligible applicants with the highest risk of homelessness or housing loss, based on responses to questions in this application. Learn more about the City’s selection criteria here.

* All SF ERAP applications will also be evaluated for rental assistance from the Season of Sharing Fund, which is also administered by the City & County of San Francisco. * Meeting SF ERAP criteria, or receiving assistance from SF ERAP in the past, does not guarantee that you will receive assistance.

We know that many households are struggling to make ends meet, but the program has limited resources and is not able to serve every household who applies. If you do not qualify for financial assistance from SF ERAP, you may be eligible for other community resources listed here. * **After your application is submitted, a SF ERAP provider should contact you within 2 weeks with an update on your application status.
