City awards over $400,000 in grants to support vulnerable residents - City of Huntsville City awards over $400,000 in grants to support vulnerable residents The City of Huntsville has approved more than $400,000 in FY25 Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding to support local nonprofit organizations dedicated to assisting individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
The funding, provided through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) , will help ensure critical services and housing stability for Huntsville’s most vulnerable residents. “These grants reflect Huntsville’s ongoing commitment to supporting those in need and strengthening our community’s safety net,” Community Development Manager Scott Erwin said.
“By partnering with dedicated local organizations, we are ensuring that families and individuals facing housing insecurity have access to shelter, essential services and a path toward stability.
” The following agencies will receive awards from the City with ESG funds: AshaKiran, Inc. – $25,000 Catholic Center of Concern-Huntsville – $155,000 Community Action Partnership of Huntsville/Madison and Limestone Counties, Inc. – $25,000 Crisis Services of North Alabama, Inc. – $50,000 Downtown Rescue Mission, Inc. – $30,000 Family Services Center, Inc. – $102,000 New Futures, Inc. – $45,000 The ESG funds will be used for a range of activities, including emergency shelter operations, rapid re-housing, homelessness prevention, street outreach and data management through Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
Each organization will provide monthly reports to the City to assure accountability and effective use of funds.
