Two grant types are available: Assessment grants support identification of flood vulnerabilities and resilience priorities at a watershed, catchment, or stream reach scale; Implementation grants fund hydrologic restoration projects identified through prior assessments. Award amounts range from $18,225 to $300,000. Eligible applicants include Wisconsin municipalities, counties, regional planning commissions, federally recognized Native Nations or Bands, nonprofit organizations, and private consulting organizations applying on behalf of eligible entities.
Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program is sponsored by USDA - Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program helps people and conserves natural resources by relieving imminent hazards to life and property caused by floods, fires, windstorms, and other natural occurrences. EWP is an emergency recovery program. The NRCS State Conservationist can declare a local watershed emergency and initiate EWP assistance in cooperation with an eligible sponsor. EWP funding becomes available following a natural disaster to address additional flooding and/or soil erosion.
